Amazon Woes (with video)

RuinedChristmas
Hi all,
Ordered a significant amount of Electronic equipment in preperation for Christmas a few weeks ago and it was scheduled for delivery on the 15th of December.
On arriving at work on the 16th of December we found a crumpled, very wet and soggy mess in a puddle in the yard. When we opened it we found it was a black binliner, not tied, and lots of what should have been Amazon cardboard packaging but it was so soggy it had fallen away into a mushy mess.
The items inside, a very expensive digital camera, lenses, iPod touch, DVD's, batteries and other items totalling a significant amount of money, were all entirely smashed and ruined beyond repair.
We took pictures in situ and then reviewed the CCTV footage which shows this:

On calling Amazon we were told that the items had been "delivered" by the courier, and that if we had an issue then we were to return them using our own resources and time and they would then hold them for 5 working days to evaluate them before issuing a refund.
They also informed us if we wanted a replacement, that despite the items being in stock on their website, given current demand and their supply chain logistics they wouldn't be able to issue replacements on many of our items until sometime in February.
If we send them back and wait for a refund then it'll be January before we see it at the earliest, or we wait till February for replacements. Either way doesn't get our family the presents they want before Christmas and to be honest it has entirely ruined Christmas for many of us.
Amazon couldn't care less, they said on Friday that a manager would call us back before 8pm, to which we have still heard nothing.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how we might get some sort of action out of them intime to save Christmas. We simply cant afford to fork out over a thousand pounds on getting replacements elsewhere then battling Amazon for refunds.
Thanks in advance.

If they haven't got replacement items in stock they can't magic them out of thin air. Your only option is to return either for replacements in february or get a refund. They will refunds your return costs if you ask them.
Not really sure what else you expect them to do?'The More I know about people the Better I like my Dog'

I presume that is the delivery driver? That is a shocker.0 -
Keep all your evidence and get the stuff back to Amazon today. Then at least if they pull their finger out they could get it sorted for replacements(if you are lucky and they are in stock). They will do nothing until they have the stuff back.0

You couldn't make the video up! Completely unacceptable delivery methods. No real advice but I hope amazon replace and the delivery man gets a damn good talking to.0

Why did Amazon deliver in a binbag?
Did he find it somewhere, or was that the delivery driver?
It seems odd that he looks like a binman in a high-vis jacket, and throws a binbag. Is it possible he found the parcel on the doorstep or in a bin etc, and threw it over?
Amazon's stance is bad, but not unusual. They did the same to me with a laptop which I did take the time to return to them, waited 2 months for a replacement (it was for a Christmas present too) and took another 2 to refund after admitting they couldn't fulfil the order.0 -
Never seen anything like it!! I assume the courier company has been made aware.0 -

The OP seems to suggest that for new customers the items are available, but for him, they are not.0 -

I was told by Amazon that the stock they have is only to fulfill new orders, not to be issued as replacements for damaged or non-working goods.
I've been waiting for them to give me the details to arrange the collection via courier, I've told them I don't mind printing the labels, ringing them to arrange it and waiting in for the collection. But all I want is a refund so I can re-purchase the kids presents before Christmas or some replacements!0 -
That is shocking! I'm sure your local newspaper/tv channel would be interested in this story if you feel you are not getting anywhere......SOA = Statement of Affairs (to find a SOA Calculator, google 'make sense of cards' & click on calculators tab > Statement of Affairs)0

Thats shocking of the courier.
But I don't understand how this one parcel can ruin a whole Christmas! Christmas to me is more about being with the people you care about & love and just enjoying yourself, and less about the more materialistic aspect of receiving gifts (although it's always nice to receive gifts -- giving thems equally satisfying.).
Plus surely not every gift your giving this year is in that one bag?0
