did half a roast chicken yesterday. I cut the carcass in half with a big knife, and cut off a fillet, both wings and a leg.
Roasted half the chicken for tea last night, and picked of the spare meat for chicken mayo in a bagel today. marinaded the wings and leg in a home made piri piri dressing, and made the fillet into strips. boiled the bones for stock for a risotto.
Four meals from a £2.50 chicken.

TBH I think DS sometimes suffers from (his own) comparisons with DD. She is 3 years older and has always worked hard and done very well in everything. DS find it hard to keep up and has been putting the pressure on himself by telling us he would like to get a 2:1. Hopefuly I have put him straight that whatever qualification he ends up with we will be proud and happy.

Well we don't have the comparison pressures, but getting a job today puts pressure on them, which is why DS wants a 2.1 though, I am not sure he can do it, personally I would be more than happy with a 2.2 for him but he won't be.

Why is it I have less time now I am retired then when I worked?
  • Just to let everyone know - I've been in touch with Queenie and real life atm is very busy with her courses, her poorly friend and family issues.

She hopes to pop in & out when not so busy as she is limiting her online time
  • Thanks for your good wishes, I have texted her again, she has to make the arrangements with the vicar and the funeral director tonight, so I really feel for her, she lives miles away, so its not so easy to just pop and see her, I just hope they will all be okay.

Sorry for everyone else who is having a bad day, poorly and cars! etc.
Anyhow there is better news in the thread about new babies xx

Sorry for not mentioning it earlier but Happy Birthday Churchmouse.

Hope everyone has a better day tomorrow.

Peem, no worries I've pm'd you anyhow xx

    Take care BBxx

Crazychick - your hair looks lovely - really suits you ;) While our hairdresser was here, she, DD and I were discussing DS's cold and whether it was, in fact, Man Flu. DD mused if men get Man Flu, do women get Bird Flu :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

    Laters, Penny. x

Pen-Pen, thanks ref my hair, it is slightly longer since the pic was taken, and a bit darker, however, I look really pale dark so going light again! I must be going thru a mi-life crisis - like OH!

I had the same conversation with DS about cold's & flu. I said he showing signs of man flu, and asked what women get! I replied Bird Flu!

All evening chores done, all bathed & pj's on. Going to chill out with a cuppa & watch soaps & watch OH attempt to put the dyson back together! (now that will be worth watchin)

    Be back before bed-time
    Bye for now

BIG HUGS AND A VIRTUAL BUCH OF FLOWERS FOR EVERYONE WHO IS SAD OR UNHAPPY TODAY. XXXXXXX

    Good evening all,

Well not much more than the usual cleaning done today.
There are some pork chops in the oven and the last wash of the day is in. :D

It is freezing down here tonight - going to get my fluffy granny slippers out in a min and batton down the hatches.

I talked to my Manager today and she will let my current hours stand for the month and then review the situation, but was excellent and said I could take time off any time we needed, TBH I am better working but it's nice that the offer is there.

Well I'm off, take care everyone.

    Smoky. xxxx

    Hello all (got here eventually!)

Just as well as I would have missed wishing my old mate across the water a Happy Birthday:bdaycake: Churchmouse - hope you have a lovely time away with your OH ;)

((Hugs)) to all those ill, and having difficulties today xxx

DH has been laying new flooring in the kitchen today, not long finished, looks fab and had really given it a lift! he's gone to fetch DD from nannys - and im about to jump in the shower!

I also go to a hairdresser (works from home) but I wished she only charged me £8 for cut & blow dry!!! or £24 for the family - its more like £20 cut&blow just for me!!! when I used to have highlights as well it would cost £40!! (gave that up and colour it myself now) and she is so busy I couldnt get booked in until 3rd March! up to put up with split ends abit longer!

have a good evening all xx

    Evening all

Happy birthday Church Mouse - hope it was a good un.

DH booked the day off today so we've had a lovely day together - so rare to get time alone when we're both awake enough to have a conversation. We put the world to rights, went out for lunch and had a very nice afternoon ;)

Had to pop out and do a MS job earlier - was dreadful, I was shocked at the levels of customer service but hey ho.

Bought a lockable filing cabinet which was a complete s*d to put together, so tomorrow everything will be out of the big bulky box files and filed neatly (how long that will last I'll never know!!)

Popped to Dunelm mill for some beanbag fillings - DD1 is having a bit of a revamp in her room - she's got a loft bed but wants a snuggle reading den underneath (DD2 has one under her bed) so she's raided the fabric box and picked some bits for curtains to go round the bed and has asked for some cushions etc to go underneath....the bean bag filling will make 3 decent sized bags for only £14.99 .....was cheaper than buying cushions....looks like I'll be busy for the rest of the week then!! She wants to paint and customize her blanket box too over half term so I'll just let her get on with it - I'm sure it will turn out great. So nice to see them wanting to express their individuality rather than being one of the "herd" and wanting what everyone else has.

Sorry to hear about all the bad news doing the rounds, makes me want to go and give my lot a big squeeeeeezy hug.

    Have a lovely evening all.

    Evening all,

    HUGS to those in need

    at crazychicks DH

Had a good day at work. The other person they employed started today - he is very good, so I am feeling somewhat misplaced already. Other than that, everything went well. Going on a reccy tomorrow :j

I have to clean the bathroom now. Stupid inspector! I'm particularly annoyed this time because we only had one at the end of Nov - its supposed to be every 3 months, but for some reason they've decided to inspect us a month early.

    Anyway, see ya later
