EXTRA £100 on my ORANGE BILL!

No they don't. My data usage has never gone over 500MB in the 18 months I've had mine.
It's nothing to do with it being an Iphone and everything to do with the user loading data intensive apps, or watching you tube / on demand TV.
The make of phone has nothing to do with it.
yes they do. Just because yours doesn't do it doesn't mean that they don't go hand in hand.
Smartphones install apps that run in the background, an iPhone is a smartphone. If iPhone owners dowload a load of apps that run in the background then dum dum duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuum as i said previously, they go hand in hand.0 -

I am pretty sure that they are able to provide a more detailed list if the OP requests an investigation.0

I won't give up on Orange to give me more information but as far as now, they said they could only provide detailed information about messages and calls. I specifically said I wasn't after the websites and the sources of the data but the time when data was downloaded.
I'm allowed 500MB and apparently, they charged me for 4GB; this is insane!0 -
My data usage is usually around 200MB to 400MB per month, but one month my Orange bill showed that I had used 916MB when my iPhone had recorded that I had used only 404.5MB (370MB downloaded and 34.5MB uploaded). Orange's customer service system showed that I had downloaded large quantities of data during short daytime periods on two days in the billing month, which if true would have severely drained my battery, but it hadn't done so because I didn't use the data. Also there's no way that my iPhone could have physically downloaded the alleged high quantity of data in the short periods stated. I was just within the 1GB fair usage allowance so there was fortunately no cost or other implication. Nevertheless I asked Orange to investigate several times and made sure that copious notes were made on my account in case the same thing should happen in future more excessively or when I'm roaming, but they failed to investigate. I'm sure Orange know all about these data billing errors but won't admit it.0

Onavo will show I'm not doing anything wrong but will Orange take that in account?
Unlikely as the bill is for the past not the future .
If you had Onavo logs re the big bill then you can legitimately challenge it .
Probability is that the networks are less inclined to believe big bill users as the networks are well used to such by now and know that its due to users not the network ripping them off .

The first point is as per hundreds of other posts you have used the data thats what Smartphones do .
Prove it - this is the point, Orange are saying you've used it, but they CANNOT prove it - that is unacceptable - any out of bundle charges should be itemised and should be provided when requested.
Accepting a bill 'because its what smartphones do' is totally illogical.
You are entitled to an itemization of anything out of bundle, otherwise networks could just make the bills up!0 -

He can still legitimately challenge it - as others have pointed out there are clearly flaws with the Orange billing system much more than any others - specifically with iPhone it has to be said - but these seem much more widespread on Orange versus TMobile...wonder if that will change when they do finally make it everything everywhere.0
