Huge data charges from orange...Help
received a bill from orange this month of £751.
I called them and they said it was mainly data charges.I normally pay £18.50 a month for my contract that includes of 500 mb internet.
I am always within this limit the most mobile internet 180mb was (once only)
And I use an Iphone 3gs.But I wanted to change my phone to iPhone 4.So I called orange customer services and asked for a micro sim because it is smaller. And iPhone 4 takes the smaller sim.
Firstly They didn't want to sell it to me because they wanted to sell me the iPhone bundle which contains 750 Mb of internet for extra £10 a month as long as I have the iphone..I explained to them that I don't use so much internet and what I have is more than enough for me.
And they put me through to Iphone team.they explained to me the same thing and told me i had to have iPhone bundle otherwise they wouldn't send me the micro sim.and also told me there are a lot of people buying sim free Iphone and use it as normal without letting Orange know so therefore Orange loses money and they are determent to catch those people.
I refused to buy the sim and the iPhone bundle. And carried on using my 3gs.
But the very next day I noticed my 500Mb internet went down to 36Mb from 475Mb suddenly.in one day.So i called orange and explained but they couldn't fined anything(so they said) and then I got scared and bought iPhone bundle.for the following month.
But i don't know what they did inside but my internet was going down like crazy and I was using it as normal.but still manged to go over my 750Mb per month limit without using it.And ended up with £751 bill.I called orange many times and asked to speak to a supervisor twice and they told me they would get back to me but nobody got back to this day.So I wrote to them 3 weeks ago recorded next day delivery but not an answer in 3 weeks.
Now I don't know what to do.They don't communicate with me, I feel like I only exist to pay their bills.
They told me I used the internet so therefore I had to pay the bill in full.
Please help...

I may be missing something, but I don't see any relevance of all this story about micro-sim and iP4 to the fact that you allegedly used some huge amount of data.
If you noticed that your data consumption went up unexpectedly, it would be reasonable to keep a close eye on it, install some app counting the data or even switch the data off completely while trying to solve this problem with Orange.
Now you can try requesting from Orange the bill for data itemised as much as possible, but I am not sure that it will help with proving that you didn't use this data.
Also, ask Orange to check that your phone doesn't have some fault.0 -
I may be able to explain.
Call 150, select the option for billing, and ask the advisor on the phone to look in "CABI" from their Guru homescreen. There is a known issue from last month where data usage has been misreported for a few customers.
Ask them to send a "Billing Integrity Action" off regarding this, and ask then to put an "LI" code on the account as the account is in dispute. Ask them then how much your bill is without the data charges, and then offer to pay that.
If you have a DD set up, you'll need to cancel this whilst the billing investigation goes on. Once the investigation is complete, they will contact you.
Hope this is of some help.I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂0 -

I thought all iPhones used a micro SIM.
The OP seems to be telling us their data usage dramatically increased after they'd spoken to Orange about upgrading to an iPhone 4... or did they get an iPhone 4 from elsewhere and simply asked Orange for a micro SIM.
Dunno. All a bit confusing really.0 -
I have to ask, why didn't you just order a micro-sim cutter (£6) or go to the nearest market stall in town to get them to cut your SIM for you?0

I must have triggered something when I asked for a micro sim for Iphone 4. I made them notice I was using an Iphone already without the I phone bundle. And I told them about the problem a month before it occurred. but they didn't do anything.they still haven't got back to me for almost 2 months now.0

I was going to get an iphone 4 from elsewhere I was simply asking orange for a micro sim card.I have a business contract with orange and I wanted to do everything by the book.0

Are these data charges, or data roaming charges-have you been out of the UK?No free lunch, and no free laptop
