yes they do. Just because yours doesn't do it doesn't mean that they don't go hand in hand.
Smartphones install apps that run in the background, an iPhone is a smartphone. If iPhone owners dowload a load of apps that run in the background then dum dum duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuum as i said previously, they go hand in hand.

Can't go hand in hand though if there is a variable.

It has the potential to go hand in hand, but it entirely down to the way the user uses the device.

    If Grumblers help here: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.php?p=44389644&postcount=3

doesn't work then you need to speak to the executive office at orange if the usual CS is not being helpful, I'm trying to find the number, when I was with them they usually resolved all the issues I had - but then again that was when I had a Nokia 602 - ahh them were the days...
  • Thanks guys! All become a bit clearer now. The fact that Orange says I have to pay huge data they can't even prove is really true!
I keep you posted on the following development with Orange,
  • I rang ORANGE again today... What a surprise; there is still nothing they can do to investigate the extra data they over charged me (8 times my normal 500MB!!)!
It's insane! As said previously, I recently installed ONAVO to track the use of data on my phone and as far as now, everything is totally normal.

I bet that the next bill will show another extra charge - and in that case the operator said that I should show the ONAVO screen shots straight away so they will investigate...!!!! So at the end of the day, it's UP TO ME to prove I haven't downloaded 1Go of date every month.

He said very stupidily; "imagine if you were ringing the gas company and you were complaining about the bill! The gas company can't have any record of what you've been cooking!"... Precisely, they have the information...!! but because of the privacy law, they can't reveal it. How handy is that!?

    THAT MAKES ME PUKE!

So now, I have to wait mid January to receive my next bill.

    Two options:
1/ they over charge me again and I have to fight to prove that I haven't used that amount of data
2/ the bill is ok and I'll never find the £100 they over charged me since September.

    Thanks ORANGE!
  • take screenshots of the app and then prove it to them in a way theyre right you cant phone up and say i havent been using all that gas take the money off you have to prove it
    What goes around-comes around
  • Thanks for all this, I have the same problem - my orange app keeps telling me I am on zero or under my limit yet the bills are getting bigger each month. Thanks for the Onavo tip, I downloaded it but maybe we should have an Onavo thread so we can all get familiar with using it to save? I will start a thread, watch my Onavo report this week and post results there.

Can I ask if you guys have complained to Ofcom? If you haven't, I would by now. If Orange are outright refusing to investigate, then that's bad business practise and will lose them custom in the future. If this is happening to a few people, it's quite obvious something has gone wrong somewhere

I'm sorry but this argument is absolutely rubbish; the problem is not what I'm doing at my end with the data ("cooking"...!) but what is going wrong with the download.
Orange have all the information I would need to find this out. I'm ready to investigate myself finding out when, in a day, there was a peak of download for example; I don't ask to tell me where the data was coming from... but still, they don't want to help.

    Yes, I'm going to. Thanks.

I'm glad in a way to hear that I'm not on my own.
Could I ask you more details?
how much do they over charge you?
    what is your monthly limit?
how many data are you over your limit (on your bill)?

If you want to join me to complain to Ofcom, let me know.
    Thanks
