Can I suggest you look out for the return of our own thread 'Weight Loss The Old Style Way'. The next challenge starts in Jan and runs until Easter, you set your own goal and it's logged every week (thanks ragz). No pressures, no joining/weekly fee, no silly diets, just shed loads of moral support for everyone who's hoping to lose weight in their own way, using their chosen method.

If you look at the results for the last challenge you can see how well we all did and the amazing amount of encouragement there is for each other :)

lizzyb I bought I Can Make You Thin and found it actually helps, as long as I listen to the cd, otherwise I start to slip back into old habits. (Also bought the Stop Smoking one 4 years ago and that worked too. I think it really depends how much you want something and how receptive you are to any given idea)

Lots of it depends on the mindset.

I found Marissa's book and CD working for me well - same thing, hypnosis in a way but you do not even realise what is happening till you suddenly look at say bread and think yukkkkk LOL

I started this thread mostly because I find it very difficult to shop for one on a budget and eat reasonably well while dieting (or trying to anyway) so rather stick to here but thanks for the invite ;)
  • Can I join? I'm single and thoroughly intend not to be next Christmas! Thanks to anti-d's I am now 10 stone when I would like to be 9 stone or even 8 and a half, I would like to get half a stone off quick sharpish as none of my pretty clothes fit me and I have such a large muffin top I could open a cake shop - I do not feel good about myself and I hate it. I have recently been looking at pictures of myself from 3 years ago when I lost weight with Weight Watchers (monthly pass) and I want to get back down to that, I look far better and I was more confident, I lost about a stone on weight Watchers but can't afford it right now. Also, I don't want faddy diets. I want something healthy that is going to work in the long run. I love food, that is my major downfall pmsl! I am a major foodie, I love to cook. Also have a full gym membership and wii fit. Hope we can all reach our goal weight in 2012!

I agree, as I said in my post it depends on how receptive we are to an idea..

My apologies if I posted out of turn, I'm absolutely not trying to 'poach'! I may even come and lurk occasionally - or more often! - as it was the title of your thread that attracted as I'm a single too, and being on a pension very much on a budget.

Good luck to us all and a Happy Slim New Year :)

Looks like my first SW trip may be in Jan rather than 28th December though.

:rotfl:Its the slippery slope gettingready :rotfl: At one of the rare WW meetings I attended, the leader was talking about the amount of days in a year that weight loss will realistically happen if keep making excuses :D

By the time she had taken off weekends, birthdays, anniversaries, TOTM, Xmas, new year etc it wasn't far off single figures that were left.

Only joking though, I am currently scoffing my way through the contents of the fridge justifying it that I won't buy any more junk food but the stuff thats there doesn't count :D

I have kitchen full of food that can not be frozen but no cash so..... SW January - too much food at home and no money for bus fare/joining fee/membership/HEALTHY food shopping so... will have to wait...

Can you post a link when it starts please?:D Cant hurt to be in both:D

Well, I bought the 'I can make you thin' iphone app last night, as well as 'My fitness pal' to track weight loss. No excuses now:p Stocked up on loads of veg this afternoon so roast veggies for dinner. I've got enough to split them in to 3/4 meals so I'll just chop up what I need tonight, the rest will keep.

I came down with some nasty nasty cold.... my nose leaks like an open tap, sore from wiping, every inch of me hurts....BUT

Got the battery for my pedometer and got it all set, need a week (from tomorrow, no excuse) to calculate a daily average of steps to know what extra I need to walk. Going to wrap up like an eskimo tomorrow and take the dog out for a good long walk like we normally do (today was just a quick pee/poo trip outside for her and me back to bed).

Really tempted to go to SW on the 28th (that is tomorrow) but for financial reasons wont be able to yet - both the fees and money for SUITABLE food shopping... so need to postpone that till next week Tuesday, honestly, not making this up.

But between now and then will have a good look at the books I have at home and meal/shop plan so when I do go to a meeting I have a plan in my head (and on Excel on the coputer - shopping list etc)

Did go on the scale today - 77kg :eek::eek::eek:

That is 2kg (4lb) up since before Christmas.....

    :(

So unfair - it takes a MOMENT to put on 2kg but at least a week to drop it grrrrr

Something from Marissa's book - never say "lose" weight, always say "drop" or something similar as the word "lose" implies a loss of something one can miss and it is a psychological thing... get rid of, drop etc but not lose :)

I should probably invest in some scales, that will help with this whole thing wouldn't it :rotfl:

Hope you feel better soon Gettingready x
