every time a man looks at me I head straight for the biscuits.
Married woman comes home, looks at what is in her bed - and heads for the fridge.
Single woman comes home, looks at what is in her fridge - and heads for bed.
So - are we exeptions to this?
LOL
Bad news - found my SW books from ages ago, the whole set.... so no excuse. SW it will be from Jan.....0 -
So need to kick start myself from... tomorrow into SW from lets say 1st Jan.
Plan
Step 1 - wear the pedometer all day to see how many steps I make in a week and calculate average per day and then plan to increase it by 1000 extra steps per day.
Step 2 - dust my stepper (yup, got one of those too) and see if I can use it for perhaps just 15 min per day...hmmmm
Step 3 - plan my meals for after the New Year0 -
10,000 Steps a Magic Number?
A goal of 10,000 steps per day has become common, based on promotion in Japan by pedometer companies and its adoption by walking clubs. But there was no body of research to back up that number. Numbers as low as 6000 steps a day were shown to be correlated with a lower death rate in men in the Harvard Study. Many people view 10,000 steps a day as too few for children, yet not achievable by many who are aged, sedentary, or who have chronic diseases. Some suggest instead of using a blanket 10,000 steps per day that instead the goal be based on the individual's baseline plus an increment of steps. For example, a woman who wears a pedometer in her ordinary activities notes that she logs 4000 steps per day. Her goal should be to add the equivalent of a half hour of walking to her day, for example 2000-3000 more steps per day.
What Should Your Step Count Goal Be?
Dr. Catrine Tudor-Locke recommends the following based on research:
Classification of pedometer-determined physical activity in healthy adults:
1) Under 5000 steps/day may be used as a "sedentary lifestyle index"
2) 5,000-7,499 steps/day is typical of daily activity excluding sports/exercise and might be considered "low active."
3) 7,500-9,999 likely includes some exercise or walking (and/or a job that requires more walking) and might be considered "somewhat active."
4) 10,000 steps/day indicates the point that should be used to classify individuals as "active".
5) Individuals who take more than 12,500 steps/day are likely to be classified as "highly active".

Join Slimming World before 24th December and get your FIRST WEEK FREE! That’s just £10 to pay on your first night – a fabulous saving of £4.95!
How is it free if I have to pay £10? And paying £10 I am "saving" £4.95? How? Is it nornally £14.95? For the first meeting or ever week?????0 -

I think there is a joining fee of £10 to cover the books etc, so you still pay that, but 1st class is free.
As Mrs Doyle would say...... Go on go on go on go on go on go onA positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0

I definitely think it would be worth going to a Slimming World group - even if you just go for the 1st week to get the new books (which are due out any time now) and have the consultant chat. Things have changed quite a lot over the last few years and your old books will be out of date.
Please give it a go and good luck on your journey.

Weight watchers will be FREE if you're prepared to give up 2 hrs or so to help out at a meeting. Can be as easy as taking the meeting fee or making sure members monthly pass is valid when they sign in. I do the shop for the leader, so set it all up and sell the products, count the stock etc etc.
In return I save £19.99 a mth (I was a monthly pass member), I get free access to the website esource and I get comission every week, which myself and the other lady who helps out save up and then use it for lunches out etc. Currently between us we have £70 saved up.
I am biased because on weight watchers I have so far lost 7 1/2 stone, I have 6 more lbs to go and then at goal weight. But its definately been even better since I started helping out and got free membership with a bit of comission being earn't as well.Mummy to two girls: October 2013 and February 20160 -
ahhh joining fee... sigh.... thanks
may give SW group a go... although I do not beleive there is much change in the books to be honest - they are about 2-3 years old only and the principles are the same..
WW not for me at all, thanks, tried that too already
fell flat on my step one from yesterday's plan - the battery in my pedometer is dead and it uses those round flat ones so wont get one till tomorrow0 -
I attempted to join a SW group years ago.
The thing was, I had a small baby, and had to take her with me. I lasted five minutes chatting to the consultant at the door, and another two sitting in the doorway trying to keep my daughter away from the wafting clouds of cigarette smoke before I decided it wasn't for me.
However, I've just had a look at the free (vegi) menu on the site-so much food!! Lots of the recipes include processed foods, though, which I'm not supposed to eat. You'd think it was written by the Quorn Advisory Board. Sigh.
You know, all I need to really do is *not binge*.import this0 -
