Oh yes the stepper. I have one stepper (actually 2 in the house, one was left here). I need to dust that off. But I need to join the gym.

I don't think I'll lose any weight if I don't do some exercise. I've done it before, but even though I don't eat as much as I use to, I'm still the heaviest I've been. My metabolism is shot to pieces, so exercise can fix that. That way I can also target my problem areas (stomach mostly).

I just need to resist all the biscuits/chocolate that I get for Christmas!

    ahhh joining fee... sigh.... thanks

may give SW group a go... although I do not believe there is much change in the books to be honest - they are about 2-3 years old only and the principles are the same..

I'm another SW fan. It's the one and only 'diet' I've ever tried. I lost 3.5 stone and have kept it off. I think it's because you're never hungry and it's just a healthy way of life/eating.

There won't be huge changes in the books (does yours have Extra Easy?) but for £10 (or probably less because there's always some mag with a free membership offer in January) it's worth going once for the talk and books.

Any questions, just call by the SW thread, we're a friendly lot.

    Oh, thansk for posting everyone....

Dusted the steper and got a battery for my pedometer today....

Went to Tesco, over £4 for 2 batteries - I only needed one and I know I would have lost the second one anyway before it was time for another change... so got a single one for £1.50 (MSE style) in a "I got everything in here" Indian shop :D

Off for Xmas eve tomorrow and then a roast on Xmay day/leftovers on Boxing day and..... going to SW meeting on 28/12 (Wed)....

I just hope I will not end up buying those fantastic choco orange bars in bulk with a plan "one per day" and end up eating them all on the bus home as I have done before........ ;)

I do not think I will be going to the meetings every week, just way too lazy for it but it depends on the group I guess... not really a "groupie" person ....

    Will see, will see....

In any case, decided tottaly against the VLCD type shakes for THIS time....

Well I am not a single (live with OH) but am facing a 7 stone weight loss journey in 2012. I'm going for exante so will see how I go but take it one step at a time, maybe one stone at a time.

Wishing OP luck and results on your weight loss journey x

Oooh, can I join? :D I don't live on my own and i'm not single, but I only cook for myself so have the same problems.

As well as that I also have problems with dairy products (so most of the meal replacement diets are out because of all the shakes), can't eat egg so it rules out a lot of things and don't really eat red meat or much fish so I'm quite restricted as well as having the cooking for one person problems. Also means I can't really follow many of the recipes from WW/SW and the like... well, I could adjust them I guess, but I can't justify the monthly subscription cost when I'm so limited with their recipes.

Sound like a right fussy cow! :o:D

I don't want to lose a lot, but think the moral support of a thread like this would help :o

    Thanks for posting everyone....

I dread going onto the scale.... serious. Mum was over for Xmas and daughter and her b/f - too much food, wayyyyyyyyyy too much.

They are just packing as catching a plane at 7am (will be leaving here at 4am) and I have so much food left - but as soon as I finish that of.....

Looks like my first SW trip may be in Jan rather than 28th December though.
  • For those who begrudge paying a joining fee for Slimming World, I have good news (which also happens to be my first informative/helpful post - yay me!) I've just found the following tweet from SW in reply to someone:

gettingready - try the Paul Mckenna book "I can make you thin" A few years ago a colleague with a similar choc habit to yours used it. She was VERY sceptical and even emailed the show that was on at the time saying she would give it a good go but didn't think it would work.

IT DID. She was amazed. She lost shedloads of weight, could take or leave chocolate and got into a regular eating pattern. The weight hasn't come back. All she does nowadays is listen to the CD occasionally.

Lizzyb - perhaps I should take a photo of my bookshelf... yup, got this one too, as well as stop smoking by mc kenna etc etc etc

When I said I have tried every diet there is.. I should have added "and have all the books too" LOL

I don't think I'll be eating like that again for a while. A HUGE Christmas dinner, and I mean huge with trifle. It filled me up till 1pm the next day (ate around 3pm). I was bloated all night though.

I'm enjoying the blowout before the diet begins. I have a whole tin of biscuits unopened, some haribo and Thorntons truffles that I got for Christmas. Don't think they'll help on the losing weight goal.

I do dread getting on the scales, especially since I've been told mine are out by a few pounds!!
