    Nice graph.
ooooooo it's quite a battle and for the first time ISTL seems to have the upper hand. How's it feel ISTL?

Interesting you think I have the upperhand for the first time.
Can I presume you were in agreement with geneer our other discussions on the facts?

Wouldn't mind for my self reflection if you pointed out these instances where geneers debate outweighed my points.

i tend to think I bring facts to the table far often

Oh no, don't mistake me saying he had the upper hand for he presented cogent arguments and documented his evidence.

He does the equivalent of MrRee in that he delights in winding up people whilst NOT providing evidence but it is amusing to watch some whip themselves into a frenzy as he chooses to ignore some pertinent points.

You have let him get to you in the past is all I was saying.

It now seems he's a littled rattled by your graph though.

Johnnys right, arguing with the likes of geneer is exactly what he wants.

ISTL - your a great poster and your effort is best spent on debating with those who have more then 1 brain cell.

To be honest, the level of dabate in here is really quite low.
Back in the day, there were good coherant arguments presented.

Even though he's seen his little chart pulled apart, he just trots it out again and hopes for the best.

    Anyway.

    Hamish bought 2007.
    Pimperne1 bought 2007.
    Heathcote bought 2007.
    Iveseenthelight bought 2007.
    Houseprices crash 2008
    Geneer bought december 2009.

Tell me more about this timing lark? :rotfl:

Looks like 4 people dropped a massive 8ollock:D

If I could be bothered I would go back to Dec 09 and see if there were any days when Geneer didn't provide a large number of posts, I somehow doubt it.

Anyway, it really is a surprise that someone should come on here and argue that buying a house is a bad idea and that house prices in Edinburgh are going down when they had fairly recently, er, bought a house in Edinburgh.

You couldn't make it up (no, wait a minute, I suppose you could).

That's the problem when you look a grid reference rather than the whole map. ;)

I just looked at the bit that said you bought a house in 2007.

If you didnt buy a house in 2007 then i apologize.

If you did buy a house in 2007 then unlucky lad;)

    Exactly Einstein. My "VI" area.
Which, the whole of Edinburgh, really isn't.

And I didn't claim to have bought "below the average".
I confirmed that I bought 20% below what similar properties were selling for around peak.

This of course is based on Registers of Scotland information for specific properties.

So you will understand why the "average" for the "average" 3 bedder across the whole of edinburgh means very little to me,
and indeed hasn't meant all that much for the last 4 to 5 years of my pals best efforts.

Funniest thing is, its not as if I didn't keep telling them this.

Hey, I hope you don't mind us "gently mocking" you over here too.

No, I didn't buy a house in 2007 I bought two flats in 2007 (but sold a house in 2007 so that should even things up a bit). I also bought a house in 1981, 1985, 1991, (several in) 1999, (more in) 2002 and a few more since then. In the meantime I have sold quite a few of them.
