Is anyone collecting the vouchers / passwords in the Daily Mail to have a chance of winning the French cottage? I've missed the passwords so far and won't be able to get the 21 needed now before April 29th I think it is. Has anyone else got the passwords thus far to share?

    Ta.

I was wondering if you enter a competition with a local paper or local radio station if you have to be local to that area. I've seen quite a few online but I often don't enter because I can imagine, for example, if I entered a comp with the newspaper or radio station of a town 500 miles away but they saw I didn't live in the area they would pick someone who lived nearer. I would also assume that local people wouldn't be happy either if someone miles away won.

I'd say just have a go.
I post from quite a few local papers based across the UK & many have won on here that were not based in the physical circulation area.
I have won a Smooth Radio London comp & I am not from the London area.
The draws are usually random & fairly run although it may appear tha local people tend to win this may be due to sheer statistics ie more local people enter.

I will keep trying, I haven't entered all that many with local radio stations but I suppose it won't hurt to have a go.

Mr GB won a rather nice TV a couple of years with Heart radio that wasn't our local :) (Via one of lovely Laks' posts on here!)
It was in the T&Cs that it had to be collected, but we felt it was worth driving 70 miles for :).

My sister had to collect a set of books she won with our local paper but the offices are only up the road from us so that was ok. I don't drive so I'll have to make sure I read the T&C's carefully and that I really want the prize.

    Should both be posted?

I'll go with both openly posted.

Personally I like to see all relevant links in the op. I do like to know what the original details page said and when no link is posted I do search back on the site to find out any detail/information not included on the entry form page.

Direct links to comps can now and again cause problems as the comp form sometimes requires the referral link from the proceeding page for the form to work correctly this was one of the reasons why I stopped using the Firefox add on Refcontrol

so having said this I agree that both links should be posted and both links should be viewable as this also aids dupe spotting and spotters

in an ideal world every post would include two links one link to the home page or competition page and one direct link to the comp form so that people could click through both links if they so desired

I have often wondered what would happen if I only entered comps from email links and only entered comps from the actual home pages and competition pages would I win more!

does hiding your referral link actually improve your chances of winning or would it be better to always include the referral link from the home page or competition page or email addy in your entry?

i:e dragging and dropping the link from MSE into the address bar or tab to hide the MSE referral link then going back to the home page or competition page and entering from there so that the proceeding referral link is added to the comp form
