Great, thanks everyone. Becky004 has found one ending tonight (:T:T:T ) so I'll get the thread kicked off just now.Hmmmm, need new siggie :cool:0

Oh that's great. I wasn't thinking about making it a sticky, just a normal thread that could be added to by anyone who spots a quick Twitter comp.
I'll start the thread as soon as I spot one (but in the meantime if someone else finds a suitable comp to kick it off, feel free to start it) - if it's breaking any rules I'm sure I'll find out quickly enough!Good idea - thank you. Please could you post a link to the new thread here?
Shall we include comps that might end today such as where they need 200 followers and we think that they won't take too long to get there? Or should we include these on the main board with a separate guessedenddate for them?

This won't work for me - I always sort by thread start date so I don't see any bumped threads. I don't really want to have to subscribe and have my inbox cluttered with notifications, so looks like I'll be missing some of these comps now. Hopefully I'll spot other people retweeting them on TwitterAl Mac Appreciation Society (AMAS) member # 6½

There's a (small) discussion about it here: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/3679855 if you (and anyone else) could maybe discuss your thoughts there? Thanks
The point of the thread is that there will be lots of expired comps but that these comps (e.g. ones posted at 12:00PM with a 3:00PM deadline that day) won't get lost amongst the many other comps posted as this thread would be regularly be bumped to the first page. People like me then wouldn't need to scan all the posts each time we log in to make sure there's none ending in the next hour or so.
Happy to discuss via PM or in the Competitions Discussion thread. At the end of the day, if people use this thread and it works, great. If no one wants to use it, it's no big deal.
But the whole point of the main board is not to have bumped threads - only certain magazine comps are exempt from this. I really dont think a thread of loads of expired comps (because as you say, they expire after a couple of hours) really benefits the majority on the board.
There are a lot of people on here who do not use twitter, so this one continuously being bumped, along with other twitter comps being posted, will jam up the board.
The comp you posted just now that finishes tonight, ok, hasnt been posted (i assume) already - but it started on the 26th Jan - what is stopping someone 'finding' it on its last day and posting it in here, when it might have been posted on the 26th already. If there are others like me out there, i enter so many competitions, i dont always remember if i have already entered it or not, so by adding it here could mean people enter twice and then disqualify themselves.
I dont go into the discussion thread, and i would think most people dont, so although i will post this in there, i dont think many people apart from regulars in that thread will see it, which is why ive also posted in here. You said yourself its a small discussion, so hardly the wishes of the majority on here.0 -

Exactly the same for me, I had just come here to say so.
Also where does it all end? we've had these discussions time and time again, "should there be a Facebook only thread" "should there be a Twitter only thead" "should all ITV be in one thread" and the overwhelming response has always been NO. The rule was set after a great deal of debate and a lot of upset, if it has an end date then it's posted on the main forum as a separate competition. That ain't working! That's the way to do it, money for nothing and TV's for free0 -
Wanted to add to my above post - the comp posted on the 26th which is now on this new thread, has lots of seperate 'RT this message' so you would not even get to check if you have already re tweeted if two different tweets are used.
I agree with Cheeky Chicken, i dont want to subscribe to emails, i dont always want to enter twitter comps, so its nice just to see what the prize is, and twitter on the title so i can decide if i want to enter, rather than having to click into the thread and search through all the twitter comps already posted to find out i dont want to enter it.
Well said Nicky63 - i really dont want to get a whole new heated discussion to get the same answer - ive lived through too many of them now, and they really are not nice!0 -
For what it's worth I don't think it's a good idea either. Sorting by thread start time as I do means that the post would disappear in a matter of hours and would never resurface because there would be hundreds of newer threads. This has all been discussed before and the majority agreed to leave it as it is. Surely that can't just be overturned because someone suddenly thinks it would be a good idea.Luck is believing you’re lucky – Tennessee Williams

Well I don't see any reason for a heated discussion, it's just an idea!
I think the thread will either take off or die a quick death. If no one participates, preferring to post individual posts instead, it'll soon die and I'll then have my answer that it wasn't a good idea.Hmmmm, need new siggie :cool:0 -
I'd find it quite handy to come in from work and find all the quick Twitter comps in one place, I miss loads atm
I subscribe to threads but I don't receive emails for them? I just click on my subscribed threads when I log into MSE and see which ones have been updated (including this discussion one, compers inn, puzzlers etc) as I also comp by thread start time so never see them again on the main board. xxSmall business owner 🧵 Ex MSE comper 🏆 Student loan repayer 💴 Romanian dog rescuer 🐕 Hopefully a cost of living survivor 🤞🏻0 -
I'm still not sure I am using this site how I should be, I seem to be thanking people a lot, but when I check I still have only thanked 174 times in 74 posts and this never changes, what am I doing wrong!!
