  • Evening sorry for going AWOL, life has got in the way and I seem to be on a hamster wheel at the minute. Children seem to have loads of christmas things going on and My work is mad with christmas stuff.

Money is incredible tight, well in fact we havn't got any left, what we have is already been allocated to food shopping and bills:(, so any spare time I have has seen me listing on ebay or doing surveys, not that i've made much to be honest, over the last week I've managed to make £8 on ebay and recieved another £8 from GFK these where redeemed for amazon vouchers, oh also had a £4 payment from pinecone.

Trying to keep food costs to a minimum and have been eating lots of soups and stews eeked out with home made bread, baking cupboard has also taken a battering and there is not much left, will have to stock up after christmas. So glad we have the woodburner as its been so cold, but its eating wood, just hope we have enough to see us through winter.

    Hope everyone is ok.
  • Merry Christmas.

Hope everyone had a lovely day yesterday, seems to have flown by so quickly.

The PWPS house was manic, lots of people and I must admit I found it rather stressful at times, but overall we had a fantastic day and the children recieved some lovely presents and are very happy, taking them next week tto spend some of their christmas cash DD wants to go to Primarc and DS wants to go to toyz r us, not that he needs more toys:eek:.

I recieved lots of lovely things various smelly sets which will see me through the next few months and keep the shopping budget down, OH also recieved a few lynx and gillette gift sets again will help with the shopping budget, as a family we recieved a vast amount of chocolate and tins of biccies:D, I really love getting useful presents :j.

Recieved £50 in gift vouchers, £30 for New look and £20 for Next, will pay the £20 one straight off Next account but will spend the new look one on me as I need some work shoes and a couple of cardies for work so will see what I can get in the sales.

We seem to have lots of food left over from yesterday, so tonight is another roast with yule log for pudding.

On the money front I get paid on the 31st, so I need to sit down and do amy first months budget for 2013 and also work out a meal plan.

    2013 goals -
    Overpay Tesco CC
Try to make £2013 in 2013, even though i failed making £2012 in 2012.
Slog it out with the surveys, they are worth it in the end.
Keep ebaying the little bits we have.
    Reuse - reuse - reuse.
Rent out house - this would make the world of difference to our finances.

Think thats all I can think of at the minute.

Oh also remind myself of the little things I do to save money, when I think i'm failing and not getting anywhere.

    Today - eaten left overs.
Turned off CH when it clicked on this morning, chucked a load of free wood on the woodburner instead.
Froze ther half bread baquette that had been put in the cupboard unwrapped, it will be ok for bread crumbs or bread and butter pud.
  • Hello Pennywise,

Im glad to hear you had a lovely day yesterday. Well done on the eating leftovers today, we were making a curry from ours but DH decided he didnt like the look of it so threw it in the bin !!

Good luck with your 2013 targets, we will be here cheering you on!! xx

    Happy New Year PWPS

Glad you had a good Xmas and got some good presents.

I started a spreadsheet with our challenge and then forgot half way through the year so I am just checking my survey sites and then will post a total before New Year - I am no where near £2012, I don't even think I am half way there but never mind.

It was so good to be able to buy Xmas presents with vouchers and this year has been the first year we have not used credit cards for Xmas :T:j:T

I must do my surveys each night instead of waiting until the weekend when some have expired :rotfl:
  • Morning Penny and followers,
i think we've done pretty dashed well on the 2012 challenge, given that it's just been bits and bobs of ebay, surveys and thankfully for me canvassing and poll clerking.
I'll have a think about 2013, i just wish i actually had the cool hard cash, it would help with replacing the boiler:mad:.
We've had the woodburner on a couple of times but logs are pretty expensive, i've always wanted a chainsaw, maybe that should be my target for 2013:D.
