you wil allways get people who moan and whinge about postage costs, but at end of day when they buy from they agree to the postal costs.

As everyone has said NO return, NO refund, sounds like he is trying it on with you, trying to rattle you. If he gets paypal invloved then he will have to return the game, may even have to use a trackable postage

Not trying to start a feedback debate again, but buyers like the one you have had know that some ebayers are obsessed about keeping there 100% feedback score and some will refund to just keep. But is good to see you are not one of them.

  • I had a similar case over an item a buyer bought and claimed it wasn't as stated which it clearly was and had a clear picture to go with it. After several abusive name calling emails (which made me more adamant to stick to my guns) they filed a claim. I selected the option to refund upon return of the item. Needless to say they cancelled the claim. I guess they had probably used the item and were trying to pull a fast one. This was my first 'dispute' and it did get to me a bit but in hindsight don't let it worry you because if you're fair and reasonable and stick to the rules you'll be ok.
    Hope you sort it out.
  • What an obnoxious buyer.
If he has put a claim via Paypal hold tight - they will insist he sends it back to you first before you have to give him a refund.
He may also need to send documents that prove the game is indeed faulty before they rule in his favour.
    Good luck X
Not true unfortunately -I filed a claim with paypal over faulty goods and was asked to get a signed letter from the relevant expert to testify it was faulty!!!!

Please remind him that you quoted postage costs before he bought and that by bidding for your item he has agreed to them.

    The buyer is being unreasonable.
P&P is postage and packing and it's not for them to comment on the actual cost of the postage part.
No refund until the item is returned.

    Personally I'd do nothing.
    Happy chappy
  • Thank you guys! You are all brill!

The buyer carried on being quite nasty so here is what happened, after the initial emails regarding the so-called faulty item, i think he realised he will have to comply with sending the item back first. But then he turned back to moaning about P&P costs instead:

This is what the buyer said:

''I would just like to add that living in Croydon you cant be that far away from a post office?????, why state sellers standard rate and use second class why not state second class in the first place and be honest????????
If you want to be funny its against ebay rules to deliberatly overcharge on postage and you certainly have, you sent it second class and i can prove it as i have the envelope?brown paper so i will now be reporting you to ebay as well.
And yes you are right I do complain about people overcharging on postage because i dont like being ripped of, i dont do so why should you. The idea is you sell an item to make money not charge postage.''

So i state that i sent first class in a Jiffy envelope and i have proof of postage. And repeat the fact that you agree to postage & packing costs when you bid.

Then after more moaning from buyer this is my final response:

''Ok,funny you are now only picking on the p&p costs. Have you forgotten what you were origionally complaining about or have you just realised i am correct?

You might want to give this a look at before you run off and complain to Ebay about costs:

    http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/policies/listing-shipping.html

You might want to scroll down on that page and take a look at the 'Examples of listings that comply' section. I think i am well within my rights to be charging £1.99 in this case. Im sure my charges will be classed as reasonable. Im sorry you dont agree, but personally i think you are just out to get on someones nerves.

As for the main issue, i have agreed to give you a refund once i recieve the item back. I dont really think there is any more need to communicate other than if you wish to let me know once you have dispatched the item. If you rather not to i will just ensure you recieve the refund promptly once i have the item.''

I know i may come accross a little annoyed  but that is how i feel after days and days of patronising emails - each evening i come home to many of them a day from him. I do not have the time to sit in front of my pc all day but looks like this person has nothing better to d with their time:eek: .

I shall not be beaten by silly people out searching for any silly little reasons to have a go.:T

That's what I said in my post. The buyer may need documentation to prove the goods were faulty!!! What's not true about that?

Sounds like he is one of lifes little moaners. They go around trying to find fault with everything.

nothing wrong with saying standard rates and send 2nd class, if 2nd class is your standard rate then whats the prob. I know you sent 1st.

He is all huff & puff, he realises he picked the wrong person this time, and trying to find a way out.

Like you said the time it takes to deal & respond to these fools costs time & money

  • Definately sounds like he's trying to pull a fast one. Even if you'd charged a tenner for P&P its his problem because HE AGREED TO IT WHEN HE BID ON AND WON YOUR ITEM! Most people add up the cost of the item + P&P and if it seems extortionate, vote with your mouse hand and just don't bid!

toally agree with all the above

Dont refund untill you received the item.
Your p&p is not extortionate, compared to some Ive seen. And yes, he agreed those costs at the time of bidding. It doesnt matter where you live, you still have to take the cost of ink to write his address, sellotape (if you use it) handling time, travelling time & allowance.

Do not be put off by his arrogant and aggressive emails - do keep the ones he sent and visa versa, I used this method in a recent dispute I had, and it helped

As a seller, I always state "sellers standard rate". That means you can post as you like using 1st or 2nd class or even pigeon post! Its obvious when it states sellers standard rate that the item will be posted to what ever delivery method the seller wishes to choose.

Hold fire & dont back down. If he was so unhappy he would have escualted a claim by now with paypal. Even then, paypal would have told him to return the goods anyway proving a trackable number!

Keep us posted! if thats an appropiate saying in this occasion! :rotfl:
