• Hi all, I just received my usual monthly statement from UB along with a leaflet IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT YOUR ACCOUNT.
1. Introduction of UB Secure
2. Changes to your Pre-advice Notification
Number 2 caught my attention and right at the very bottom of the leaflet (taking up all of 4 lines) it states:
FROM 10 AUGUST 2007 THE NAME OF THE UNARRANGED BORROWING CHARGE WILL BE CHANGED TO MAINTENANCE CHARGE. For further information see our brouchure,"A Guide to Personal Current Account Fees and Interest", available at your branch.
Does this seem right to anyone or is this the Ulster Banks way of trying to wriggle out of bank charges being reclaimed??Any1 have any ideas??

I know I'm late to all this, but I sent off a letter to my bank to chance my arm anyway, just asking for the statements. Today I've got a letter asking me to phone them at my earliest convenience!eek.gif Anyone know what this is likely to be about? Its Ulster bank Visa if that helps.
• My apologies, I'm sure this has been asked before, but I'm at work and sneaking on quickly, so I don't really have time to search.

I've just been going through a bank statement (bad few months, heh) and have noticed that I was charged a £60 referral charge for the month of June. What is this and can it be claimed back? I think it relates to a couple of cheques I wrote which bounced (they were paid in a lot later than when I wrote them!)

I also bank with Ulster Bank, a Northern Irish bank.

Any help or advice appreciated!

<HR style="COLOR: #660000" SIZE=1><!-- / icon and title --><!-- message -->i initially made my first contact with my bank to reclaim my charges in may 2007. they have delayed their response but i have today had a letter saying due to the 'test case' that has been ordered my case will be delayed. is this right as i started my claim prior to this ruling?:confused::confused:
• just go to the next step and keep going into the end, then when this oft is all done then u should get your money back
• Can anyone help me?I recieved a letter 2weeks ago from FO and Ulster Bank to say that they would have to wait for the test case before they can proceed.I unexpectingly received a letter from FO today. Ulster bank has agreed to settle £301 of £931 they owe. What do I do? Do I take the offer or can I still negoitate through FO?Any help will be much apprieciated.
• Hi, we are trying, without any joy so far, to reclaim over 9000 pounds in only 5 years from Ulster Bank. After our initial letter they replied with the usual mumbo jumbo that their charges are transparent and fair and would therefore not be refunding myself or my hubby. We then wrote the second letter telling them if they didnt refund us we would be taking them to court. That was at the start of June. We gave them two weeks and they still havent replied. Can anyone tell us what to do now and should we continue with the stay on reclaiming or does that even matter with this bank. Also in Northen Ireland small claims only goes to 2000 pounds so do we have to actually use a solicitor and pay for it? And finally I have heard that it is illegal for the banks to take charges from benefits paid into accounts. Both my husband and I are disabled and unfortunately all we live on is benefits and the 1st two weeks in june the Ulster bank took 210 pounds out of our accounts in charges. What can we do? Any help anyone??
hi my name is Rachel and i am currently reclaiming from the Ulster bank. They havn't as yet sent me my bank statements as i have only started but they did acknowledge my request and assured me they will follow. They did however take my overdraft off me. Will keep you posted

you will hopefully get a better response on the bank charges reclaim board, so I'll move this over for you :)
Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere(please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email abuse@moneysavingexpert.com.
