Got my default charges today and just added them up, they come to just under £5,000 and with interest there over £6,000 if i have to take them to court, what way can i claim as the small claims courts are only £2,000 in N Ireland?

  • Would welcome any advice from anyone who has been in same situation. I am helping a relative reclaim from Ulster Bank and have sent final letter before action & they have replied to say they are not repaying charges & have told us "you may wish to seek the opinion of Financial Ombudsman Service".
Is this just the usual stalling and attempt to put us off and should we now just go ahead with small claims?

It all depends if you and the Ulster Bank are in the same country, ie the UK.
Hamsters have no tact and diplomacy, nor do they want any.
  • Yes Kurt - we are in the same country

As it appears the courts in NI have suspended court actions it might well be a good idea to pass your claim over to the FO now.
