That worked - thanks. Managed to find my bookings again
  • Wow. There are still £10 rooms available. Many sale prices still available - Is it always like this? Cos Someone told me they usually all sell out within hours of the site going live at 4/5am?

I just booked a night in London (Southwark Travelodge) for £20.

    No, it's usually chaos!!

Maybe partly due to the May-June dates not being pre advised, and the MSE email being late out this week, either way you got what you want (and in a pretty decent T/L too).
  • Got a room in Edinburgh, for Good Friday on Easter Weekend for £19! :D Great stuff, as our wedding anniversary is Easter Saturday!! :j

Gonna go see some Pandas, I think!

Doubt it, my husband used a visa debit earlier. What browser are you using, and have you tried a different one?

EXcellent rate for that TL as just a few minutes walk from the tube station and 10-15 minutes walk from there to the Waterloo embankment for the London Eye, Houses of Parliament, Big Ben etc. 30 min walk to the West End Theatres. You can get the clipper boat from there to the Tower and great transport links around London.

Can anyone suggest a good place to visit? We live 45 mins by train from Glasgow so head there first and will get a train to most places from there. We go to Edinburgh a few times a year and have bookings for March and April next year. We would like to try another couple of 2-3 nights at the sale prices and not any more than 3 hours or so by train, either in Scotland or England. Can anyone suggest a town or city with a good Travelodge and plenty to see and good shops (although hubby doesn't like shopping but will cope with a little bit lol). Somewhere we can reach easy by foot or bus to places of interest and also nice, but not too pricey, restaurants for the evenings and also a central to amenities Travelodge. I had thought on Carlisle but not checked yet to see how interesting it may be but did check Trip Advisor and some conflicting views on the Central Travelodge so unsure about there. Getting too tired now so will check tomorrow. Many thanks and I hope to book another Travelodge on Friday morning once I read some suggestions which I'm sure you lovely people will provide. :)

Hi Ailey; firstly Carlisle T/L is fine, I occasionally use it overnight as my local station at Lockerbie is not well served early or late in the day. I have never reviewed it on Tripadvisor simply because it is neither exceedingly good nor absolutely awful. The only thing to be aware of is that, as an old telephone exchange the rooms have very high ceilings and can be a bit cool if it's below zero outside. There is a good Wetherspoon pub - Woodrow Wilson - nearby on Botchergate for breakfast and the station is 5-10 minutes walk away. Never thought about Carlisle for "interest" but other towns around Cumbria and the Lakes are easily accessible by train or bus.

As regards other places to visit; Newcastle is about 2.75 hours from Glasgow and has the Tyne and Wear Metro to get you around the area. Manchester is 3.25 hours on the direct Trans Pennine trains - just don't stay at the old Central T/L which ranks as just about the worst T/L you could ever experience.

    HTH
  • I live about 10 miles from Carlisle and can heartily recommend it-on the face of it, it's just a run of the mill small city but, depending on your interests, there's shedloads to do within walking/driving/train distance. Feel free to ask if you want to know anything specific
