You are accusing someone of lying about being disabled, because you think they are selfish??????
How ignorant can you get?
Whatever you think about the OPs actions, judge them on those, not by making things up about them.0 -
Reading the replies I'm wondering if it's worth it for supermarkets to run a home delivery service or whether they do it to preserve market share or some other reasons.
If I walk into a supermarket and pick £100 of groceries then the cost to the supermarket are the goods, a member of staff for 5 minutes, and infrastructure. So they might make £15 profit from me.
If I order online you have the cost of the computer systems and infrastructure (partly offset by the existing store), a picker, a new supervisor who may or may not till the items and may take calls from customers re: substitutions/errors/non-delivery/kompensayshun, a new dispatch manager and a van with the associated, insurance/fuel/RFL/wear and tear etc etc. Add on the costs and the same goods being ordered would they just about break even? Would they rather break even knowing that the customer hasn't given money to their rivals? The man without a signature.0 -

Get off your High horse and read the post properly you fool.
I said I wouldnldn't be surprised, not that they were. It was me expressing my thoughts, not stating facts.
Other people discussed disability and the use of online shopping, the OP only said she couldn't go out, That could mean anything, she could be caring for a sick !!!!!, for all we know ! ( didn't know the cuter name for a cat would be censored on here Lol !)
Go and take a chill pill !0 -

Excuse me?
Right as a CURRENT DRIVER who was in at 6am this morning on HIS DAY OFF, I'm not having abuse on the internet when we worked our bums off for the customers today!
Our store had 112 orders today (not 20, don't be stupid). 60 of them had to be shopped in time 6 vans to leave BY 9AM. The pickers start at 5am or 6am.
1. The system went down meaning we had no way of calling the orders up and onto the handsets.
2. The routing wasn't working either, meaning we had no idea of which customer was meant to be on which of our 6 out of 8 vans running today (quieter than usual which was lucky)
3. We had to write down 60 customers between 9am and 12pm, then work out on their location using the experience of 7 drivers which van to put them on. Not easy.
4. The pickers was given a list per customer to manually shop. They usually do SIX at a time, not 1. Therefore they have to keep revisiting the same spot each time. They also have to do the whole order, its not broken up. This can take at least 5 times as long! Usually one does alcohol, one does bread, one does dairy etc etc.
5. We had to MANUALLY scan to process payment on every order. For security reasons only certain people are allowed to do this!
6. We had to load and take out the order with no paperwork, no checklist of the boxes on board and no routing paperwork to do the drops the quickest way.
7. Also we spent extra time at each customer since we had no proper paperwork, we had to work out the subs and out of stocks, as well as explain the problems of the day.
I worked from 6am straight to 1:30pm before I got a drink. All the pickers gave up their breaks and instead of finishing at 10am they were STILL picking at 2pm when I had to leave for home. Yes, overtime, but most don't get paid any extra just a standard rate! My department manager came in at 10am instead of 2pm and will work until 10pm tonight, she won't get paid the extra hours at all and nor will the managers who started at 5am that morning and should've finished at 1pm.
My role is just driving, but today I had to pick 5 orders on my own, process 9 orders manually through the till (yes I'm another trained member to do this), then load the van making sure I got all the boxes (remember no checklist!), deliver and come back.
Every customer got a £10 voucher if I was late. I asked everyone if they were going out and made them first if they were. I made sure a old peoples home got their delivery first so they got lunch and another disabled lady got her order afterwards.
For those people who are moaning about "not enough effort being made" - what the hell did you do BEFORE online deliveries was around? That right, you went down to the supermarket and get it yourself. Think yourselves lucky these days you don't have to. Also think yourselves lucky its not next week we have the problems with your christmas orders!!!
Rant over, be more respectful for the people working for you and bending over backward to give you the best service they can.
Merry Christmas everyone!
well said as a driver too and never stop till 11pm tonight0 -

I hope you called the store to inform them how helpful he was!0 -

In any event, they chose to use online shopping, a service offered by Sainsburys. Who are you to tell them they should shop in store?
Lets not forget, delivery is a SERVICE they offer. if it isnt available then you have to do it the old fashioned way.
Noone has a right to delivery.
If the OP isnt able to shop for themselves then their carer should be doing it.0 -
Can I just say how fab my sainsbury's drivers have always been, I have emailed twice to let 'them' know of my opinion.Oh....I'm not going to lie to you......At the end of the day, when alls said and done......do you know what I mean.........TIDY0
