Just a thought on the lack of space for the stamp issue. Do you have access to an A3 photocopier, if so can you copy the A4 onto a bigger sheet of paper (keeping the original text the same size), then stamp it and then trim to size.
Alternatively, can you reduce the copy of an A4 sheet to, say 80% size, thereby leaving space for the stamp. Surely as long as the full text is clearly legible, this would be able to be a "certified copy"??
I'm just thinking out loud here, so sorry if the rules mean it has to be A4 or if the document has to be an "exact" copy in terms of size of font etc. How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)1 -
Hi Primrose,
Yes, there is a ready market for such a stamp, something the Office of Public Guardian should help with but unlikely. My guess is that most people who use the LPA's don't even read this Forum unfortunately. I purchased the stamp from a fellow poster who bought two and had one spare. All I can tell you is that it is a self inking 'brother' stamp no. 2260 but the important thing is to specify the size of the script so that it fits neatly on the bottom right of the copied page. In fact if it is photo copied carefully you can have a bit more space for the stamp, signature, and date. Regards, Ralos.0 -
Thank you for the feedback.
I found at least 2 or 3 sites advertising stamps so I didn’t check the sizes as I assumed it was a recognised thing. Presumably some have used these big stamps else they wouldn't exist. My bad.
Ralos, yes please, being lazy, I would like to take up the offer of your stamp and will look tonight how to PM you as not possible for me now.
Unfortunately I only have an A4 printer that will copy single sheets at a time.0 -
I watched Martin's show tonight and my 85 year old aunt asked me to be one of her LPA attorneys last year. I have received the paperwork, but have just checked it on line and it says 'No active code' - plus there are preferences and instructions which can't be displayed on line. She's 350 miles away and I'm going to see her in May, should I ask her to activate it whilst I'm there? She can just about use her Ipad for email but that's about it.£216 saved 24 October 20140

I'm sorry I can't help with this.
We did our LPAs on paper as online wasn't available then. Unfortunately that means there are no electronic copies if they become acceptable.

I don't know whether thre Office of Public guardian (or whatever they call themselves these days) has a ohone number but if it does it,s probably worth calling them for advice. I had read somewhere that they were planning to make more recently transacted LPA,s accessible and available online for any institution which required access or sight of them but don,t know how far this has progressed.1

Thank you. I looked again last night and it says on another tab I am authorised to use the Property and Financial side. I've got an access code to give TalkTalk and will phone my aunt to get her details. She has an IPad and a smart tv - which she can't remember how to access now - and is paying £52 per month. I did get her a mobile phone but it doesn't take wifi calls.£216 saved 24 October 20140

Thanks Primrose.
I asked a while ago and they weren't planning to go back as far as we'd need.
Latest reports suggest they have ongoing issues so I won't expect anything to change soon.0 -
Just a heads up for anyone setting up an LPA for their family, make sure you know where the original is stored. I've just spoken to my 85 year old aunt and she doesn't think she has her LPA, she thinks she left it with her solicitor. Luckily I'm going down in six weeks so will have time to sort everything out before I go.£216 saved 24 October 20140
