But you know that humans are only the third-most intelligent species on the planet (after the dolphins and the mice of course ;))

So did he evolve with us then or did he just know what Homo Sapiens looked like a few millions of years before we happened? And created Homo Erectus and Homo Habilis anyway?

Or do you not believe in Homo Erectus etc?

God created us in His image as we are now a few million years ago.

Guys, this is starting to look a bit like cats toying with a mouse now. You aren't going to score any points or change TQ's mind.

    The mouse can win though!!:T

Humans are God's ultimate creation and the most intelligent.

I wouldn't be so quick to giggle. This stuff is taught as fact, or at least as a theory equal to evolution in many US schools.

The organisation sent free teaching materials to every British secondary school a few years back too.

And presumably they were thrown straight in the bin (or at least recycled to make something useful, like toilet paper).

My dad used to write GCSE biology text-books and he has been approached by the clergy on a number of occasions. One priest asked for the pages on contraception to be perforated so that the Catholic schools could rip them out. Another gave him an earful on the chapter on evolution - in both cases he responded that it was his job to teach the syllabus, and so they should take up their argument elsewhere.

Yep. British teachers generally very scathing about creationism. For me, it is a very sinister move towards recruiting those people who trust in science and evidence-based beliefs, and away from the traditional religious perspective that faith is faith and science is science. I have a lot more respect for somebody like Torry who states simply that they believe without recourse to science.

It does amaze me what some people believe.

I met one halfwit (at a Russell Group university) who was standing by a display saying 'evolution is not true', 'all species were created in seven days as they are now' 'species cannot change' etc. It was an awareness week of some kind, they had eg vegan awareness week, LGBT awareness week, Jewish awareness week, I assume this one was idiot awareness week.

I said, 'what about dog breeds, and other breeds of domestic animal? you are telling me they were all created as they are now?'
He said yes! He said they had just been hiding in the wild, then were individually caught and tamed.
    PMSL!!!!

I then asked him, when I was next able to speak, 'what about microbes, bacteria and the like, they live fast enough for you to watch them evolve and change'.
He replied, 'they are different, they don't have DNA'.
    PMSL!!!!

I told them they did have DNA, and he replied 'oh ... but ... oh ... that's not what my [religious leader - I don't see a need to identify the religion] said ...' This guy honestly just believed without question whatever nonsense his religious leader told him!
I just walked away at that point, some people are just beyond help.

Oh. My. <insert deity of choice>.

As a graduate of a Russell Group university, I find it utterly astounding that a supposedly intelligent person could hold a view like this.

As a current student at a Russell Group university, I wish I was more surprised.
