  • Hi - have just found this forum and would like to join in !

I have been doing this for a few years already - buying myself one of those Teramundi pots (you have to 'smash' it to get access to the money) and saving from the 1st Jan - 1st Dec for Xmas presents. It pays off as the past years grand total was £460 !

This year I have purchased a tin from a bargain store (cost £2 instead of £20) which can only be opened with a can opener, so feel I have a head start already , with £10 saved in coins just over the past week.

Good luck to everyone who is also attempting this challenge.

    Hi there,

    Can I join too?

Do I need to subscribe to something?

I've been saving £2 coins since last year as a customer had told me she did it and bought a plasma with her savings! My plan is to pay off my credit card then save for my holiday WOOHOO!
    #27 £2016 in 2016 = £763.61

    #42 £2 Savers Club = £160

*Savers Club not included in overall 2016 savings until the tin is opened and my estimates have been confirmed later in the year.
  • And another joiner here. We've been saving £2 coins for years - they're called "Holiday tokens" in this house. We cash them in when it's time to go away or buy currency to pay the campsites etc. (as the chunnel is paid with Tesco rewards)

Well, that was a surprise – I didn’t realise we would get personally mentioned in the weekly email! Thanks Martin!! :money:

So a massive big welcome and hello :hello: to all the new joiners:
Miele, Nifty50, Kkennedy, Sams247, Sammy246, Madjen18, Keys, Scotmumof3, LPMS, MrsShazbat, Lynnebird, Yonny, Rawrena, Philfuller, Hbread, Cherie63, Luv2Win, LittleMsStitch, Golly1, Andi Bell, Lola2, DorsetGirl, SandiD, Cakeboss, Lou85 and BobbinAlong.

I have added you all to the members list on post two (page1). If you haven't already, have a quick read of the first post too if you don't mind......although you can't really go wrong when all you have to do it find those pesky coins!

Please do try and pop on the thread once in a while. I hope I speak for everyone when I say that we all enjoy the chat and the motivation that goes along with being a part of this club.

Also a big welcome to MSE for those that are completely new to the forums. There is a lot of you at the moment so any help required just ask, there is a lot of useful information and help if you can just search it out. I hope you enjoy being one of us :D

Rawrena, Philfuller, Andi Bell and SandiD I just would like to check that you all wanted to be added to the list? I have done so anyway…….Philfuller thankyou for the film canister tip that’s a fab idea.

Golly1 no worries, that was a perfect first post

Hi Nifty50 (and anyone else) – There are a few ways to add to your signature, one being to click on ‘Quick links’ in the green bar at the top of any page, then on ‘Edit signature’ and write what you like (within reason there are a few rules i.e. nothing large type, and number of words etc.). Then remember to save and voila. If you want to subscribe to the thread click ‘thread tools’ in the other green line, then the subscribe option and alter the email option that pops up to suit your preference.

Kkennedy , Lynnebird and Luv2Win – it is never too late to join. You are now up and running so start sniffing out those £2s.

Sams247 optimism is the best way. Just you and Amber03 remember to never get down hearted if you don’t find some for a while – just makes it all the more exciting when you do :j

Hello Sammy246 it is up to you if you want a goal, but just let me know if you decide and I will add to the front page

Congrats Joyce63 and Joyanne on your first coins. And having to pay to get some coins Joyce63 and the rest of you who mentioned it, is all part of the game. Swings and roundabouts as they say. Two pairs of eyes  hunting out coins is better than one. My mum is my second pair and very good too she is!

Also yippee mlbarrett, mandz1, If my pennies were pounds, Kobrakai, Welshdreamer and Clipperty who have hunted out some £2s

Hi Hay77 – see Mums always come in handy!

Poor OH wannabee_in_credit! But lucky you :T

DizzyBrunetteGirl just remember it is all helpful as in if you really really need to spend it then it is there for you to do so, but hopefully knowing you actually WANT to save it will help you think do I really need to spend this? It’s all a gain in the end honestly *(Was that gobbledygook ha ha I know what I meant )

No problem Keys, any alterations throughout the year let me know. I hope we help you become motivated to find as many as we can. And you can motivate the rest of us back if you would be so kind :happyhear

WHAT POPSICAT?! No wonder others are struggling. Ha ha:rotfl: only kidding that is fantastic, go you!

Hi Clipperty that is definitely NOT cheating. If it is tough ‘cause I do it all the time! If someone else is daft enough to not want them, then there is no way I am passing up the opportunity!

No you don’t Kezza38 the surprise will be worth it (and yes I know I count mine, but I don’t count my Sealed pot so that is my surprise)

I know retiredandskint. They definitely come in waves. Honest. Just wait and see.

Nanto3girls so many new savers could be a little problem but in reality there is plenty out there, and if we all bank some once in a while someone else can keep hunting them out. So everyone, think of your fellow £2 savers and bank those coins

What a fab total already Hbread. Keep on going.

Of course you can Cherie63. We would never turn anyone away. So welcome and have fun saving.

Andi Bell thanks for the reminder how worth it this is!

Congrats on the up and coming wedding Lola2. And going on the quick second post if you can find one every 11 minutes there will be no beating you!

Searching handbags always finds something in my experience Kellbobs – and your search was definitely worth it.

Hi DorsetGirl I see you on SPC a lot so welcome over here. I really love your pic always makes me smile!

Cakeboss DO NOT SMASH THE TERRAMUNDI! With a bit of patience it is possible to prize the money out using a knife or something similar or tweezers apparently! Many people on the SPC forum have successfully reused terramundis for years and as they cost so much to start with please don’t smash it unless you really really want to.

So I hope I haven't forgotten anything.....there is always next time if I have.

Oh dur, what about my £2s? Well. Are you ready? I have found (ok my mum found and I paid for them) 2x£2 yippee, into the pot with you then. Be nice and make friends :rotfl:

Apologies for the length of the post, didn't realise it would be that long!
Hope everyone is having a fantastic week :T

  • Hi everyone

i always wondered how people joined these clubs - I have often seen people with the club number in the signature.

I would like to join please. I am intending to save for a nice holiday so this would be a good way of saving without having to try too hard (hopefully!):j

  • Thanks Observer, and yes, you were making sense!

I think I'm just going to find this challenge very hard anyway, as I'm currently trying to live off a weekly budget of £37.50 to include all food, cat food, going out, toiletries, clothes etc. so once any £2 coins go out, my funds will be even more limited! However, I think it will challenge me more to think about what I really need... and I'm a sucker for buying food and drink at lunch time, so will just have to reign myself in! Bread and sandwich fillers now in stock in my kitchen :)

    Debt-free and Proud!
I've only had a 50p piece in my purse since the weekend. I might not be adding to my £2 pot but I'm saving money by not spending money (if you know what I mean)!
  • Got 2 coins today, so total is upto £26.
  • 1 more little lovely makes £42 :j

Well tonight I made an empty gravy granule tub into a home for 4 £2 coins and 1 £1 coin :j

Added a layer of duct tape to stop me from opening it, and a slit in the top to let them in :)
Can't think of anything smart to put here...
