Hi brizzle and peaceandfreedom too :)

I'm so looking forward to starting tomato plants again this year :D

I did alot of work in my garden last year - building my own little path - it was hardly building but not sure how else to term it? Laying perhaps? Also dug up and moved some really big shrubs we'd inherited i.e they were already in when we moved. I don't like to throw plants away but these were in a really silly place so i dug them up and moved them ready for some lovely flowering bedding plants :) Sadly, i'm not going to have the spare money for plants this year - but the space will still be there next year and it looks so much better with the work i've done - even if i do say so myself :D

Hey everyone, thanks for all the support :)

All the gardening talk *may* inspire me to head out and tackle mine :o It's another thing that there's too much to do so it is overwhelming. I also feel like it's not 'mine' so can't just go out there and rip everything out which is what I would like to do.

I am feeling a little better today, so that's good. I've made a small pad of £8 which I think helps. The huge pile of ebay stuff has been deposited at the sorting office. It comes to something when I have to tell the staff what to do with it all  I guess I spend too much time there :D

Payday is creeping ever closer so that's good. It's going to be a very tight month next month, as I have to pay £600 to one debt  The bright side though is that it will be a debt reduction of £600 as it's not something I will be able to access again :T So it's positive. I will just have to get the old ebay hat on to try and raise some extra.

I've been holding off listing anything new as I don't want to get stitched up by postage rises. It looks like they are on the verge of announcing them though, so will be able to adjust things then.

I will also have to review my current listings on amazon to check it's still worthwhile having some of my books listed - I think it will result in a lot being sent to boot sale instead.

Hope everyone has a good day :)

Good work in the garden, DDFW. :T

If you can spare a little bit of money, you could buy some seeds and grow plants from seed. Depending on what you choose, one pack can have up to 500 seeds - many flowers can be sown directly into the soil later in the spring. Things like nasturtium, nigella, poppies, cornflowers are all good to try. Even if you just buy one pack, that's a huge swathe of colour for you garden.

Sweet peas can be sown now, as Brizzle has done (and so have I), and they produce splendid delicious-smelling flowers. They like something to grow up so if your flower-bed isn't near a fence or wall, just get some long twiggy sticks from the hedgerows (sorry, don't know if you live in the town or the country - we are not short of hedgerows where I am) and form a wigwam with the sticks.

Also, look out on Freecycle for freebies - you often find people giving away their surplus plants. Befriend a keen gardener - they will usually have sown too many seeds and are happy to give stuff away. :)

Me too - one of the best things about summer is eating ripe cherry tomatoes straight off the plant. :)

I planted some sweet peas as well but I think they are fairly hardy. I've also sown some in the greenhouse just in case the outdoor ones don't make it but last year I found the outdoor ones 'overtook' the indoor ones after a while.

You are being very industrious as always! It will be lovely to see the back of that £600 won't it? I am considering a car boot on Sunday, will have to see what the weather is like. Also, we are going out on Saturday night. Hmmm.

I am going to do a few car boots this Spring and some ebayingb and then I'm going to just charity-shop/Freecycle the rest of the stuff. I want a nice tidy clear garage as I have lots of little furniture-painting projects to do and I need the space.

It will be a nice feeling to see the debt total go down by £600, definitely. It won't affect my monthly payments, but of course shortens the debt clearance date so is all good :j

We've accumulated quite a lot of stuff now for the car boot, so will have to get back into doing them. Not sure how keen I'd be after going out on Saturday night though, good job I don't have a life :rotfl:

Like the sound of the furniture painting projects though!

There's a lot of reasons really, we have long term plans for it, but disagree on what needs to be done in the short term.

I don't have the knowledge or confidence to go out and tackle things as I'd like to either without hacking them beyond repair or killing them .

    Hey jwil

I think we were lucky in that we were happy with the garden overall - plus as i say i don't like to chuck plants away and with things growing merrily i just move them when its the right time of year of cut things back.

Apparently my fella now wants to completely change the back garden  luckily there is so much more to do and spend money on first that i'm hoping he'll go off the idea by the time other jobs have been done :o I'm very much of the mind that i look after it and i am happy with it so why spend any money on it ? :o
