Pippi - glad the parcel arrived safely - and that you can use the contents. If they get a donation for your cause, then all the better, or if they end up getting given away for free for awareness raising, then that is fantastic too.
Not sure what what I will knit next. Had a go at the knitted bag, not sure what I did wrong, but it doesn't look right. Think I will check the website again...think Greying posted the link.
Oh Keiss, I am gutted! I don't knit/crochet (I can knit, but haven't for yonks. I prefer machine knitting but haven't done that in an ice age either!!), So I had assumed that the patterns 'worked' - especially since 2 of them appeared on 'tipnut'. If they hadn't worked, i'd of assumed someone would of commented as such. Oh, I hate to think of you wasting your valuable time on patterns that don't workI love your Lisa Lam 'OO' bag by the way - looks gorgeous - and I discovered that our local library service had a copy of the book, so I put a request in. Thanks!!

Mind you i went to a carboot this morning - first time in ages i've been to one as a buyer - the weather was a bit rubbish and there were only about 6 stalls. Still it was well worth the early-ish start - Got loads of new clothes all from top high-street shops that i really like but can't afford to shop at much really :T 1 pair of leggings new and with the tags on £16 on tag i paid £1.50
a top new with tag on £23 i paid £3 and lots of other things that were pre-owned but lovely - 2 new tops, 2 new jumpers, 1 pair of jeans all for £1 - £1.50 each. Also got my mum, niece and sister some bits too :T Very pleased with my little haul :j
Thats good! I spent a total of £2.70 at mine - a light showerproof jacket, a bright turquoise check blouse, a stripey summer top, and a flanelette jimjam top; plus a weird Ikea silicon thing that looks like its for petit fours, not fairy cakes, and a double sided wooden carrying case for artists materials - I'm thinking of all the craft stuff I might do, and keeping it one place.... so I'm really pleased with my haul!
Waving at everyone else - Pippi, remember if you work today too, you *still* need a weekend.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

Hello all, hope you're all well
It has been snowing here , caught me while out for a nice rainy walk as well . Not impressed with my 'waterproof' boots either!Weight loss: Start weight: 80kg; Current Weight: 77kg; Target weight: 55kg0 -
Great you have managed to sell some of the bags Pippi. :T
Hope you can have a good rest tomorrow to recover from your working weeked.
Greying - dont worry, I think it was me...I didn't have quite enough cotton for the body so it's a slightly petite bag...but boy does it stretch! The problem is with the handles, or rather the i-chords round the top of the bag before they become handles.
I attached the front and backs together at the sides, to reduce the strain on the side seams of the bag, a good idea I thought. The problem in doing this is that there isn't much of an opening at the top of the bag now, as the i-cord doesn't allow for much stretching at all. Been looking at the photos and there does seem to be a gap beween the two i-cords, so it's my problem, and not the patterns. Trying to work out what is the best way to proceed....might have a go at undoing the i-cords, but it could get tricky, even if they are in a different colour!! So at the moment, I can only get small things into the bag! :rotfl:
Thinking I could adapt the pattern to make a scarf/cowl, will have a root round my wools to see what I could use.
Not done any sewing today, yet. Have cut out some purple velvet and a light blue silky lining to make a jewellery pouch for DH's niece. Been trying out some designs I can sew onto the vevlet, but got distracted by the bread needing to be shaped and put into tins. Then, as the oven needed to be heated up, I decided to do some baking: more of Pippi's scones and some millionaire shortbread. The caramel has been made and spread, but isn't cool enough to have the chocolate on yet, but soon!!
I had to come onto the 'puter to track down Pippi's scone recipe...I wrote it down last week, but couldn't find it today
That's the week's bread out of the oven and cooling now. I will keep the oven on, as we are having toad-in-the-hole for tea...a great way to use the oven for a few hours on a rainy day
Greying - glad you are getting the bag making bible from the library. It's not the best laid-out book, but once you work out where everything is and what techniques you need for a specific project, then it's fine. She has another book coming out this year, May I think, hope it's easier to navigate!
Oops, forgot I put the chocolate into the oven to melt...luckily DH found it in time!! Now we just have to wait for the chocolate to solidfy before we can break into it!!!
DH is making the T-I-T-H, so I think I will head upstairs and get some more sewing done.
Enjoy the evening everyone xx

Hello folks, we're in and we LOVE our new house
The place is fabulous, the move went amazingly smoothly apart from my hoover packing up half way through cleaning the old house, so I had to borrow one from a neighbour, and it all took ages but yay, we're in and we are so happy it's not true! The garden needs lots of work, dodgy paving slabs, the kitchen and bathroom need replacing, but it's all liveable with and cosy and ooooooooooh so quiet as we're now in a detached house and set back further from the road, bliss
I feel like I don't know whether I'm coming or going and have lots to do before Monday night when my parents come back to look after us for my operation, but there's plenty of time......famous last words eh?!
i'm so pleased for you KK. It's what you deserve. Hopefully it won't be long before i'm saying the same things, i'll certainly be saying we need a new kitchen and bathroom, the latter will have to be as soon as possible after we move in.0 -
i think i need to move into Keiss's home, millionaires shortbread, homemade bread, scones, crafting hobbies sounds like my idea of heaven
Pippi, hope you get to start and enjoy your weekend soon, don't do too much whilst you're off, you need the break to be at your best when you get back to womble central0
