Evening all (brings back memories of Jack Warner in his Bobbies helmet
). Thanks for your updates Pippi...get back to the docs if your lurgy isn't shifting...and soon!!
Good luck with the packing KK and good luck with the move. Hope your exchange happens soon LT.
Had a busy time this morning at an HMRC workshop for the newly self-employed, it was really good and very informative. Could have done with more, but think my brain would have exploded with any more info this morning...3.5 hours is more than enough on one go!!
Opened a new bank account this afternoon to put all my self-employed earnings into, easier to sort things out for the tax man...and myself!
Had a wander round my favourite garden centre after the workshop, (used to work there, sigh!)...a bit of a jumbled mess atm as they are reorganizing most of the place...again!! Got some compost, JI Seed; JI No 2 and some multipurpose...it's locally made and brilliant...and pretty good value too! :T
Was very good, bought no potatoes!! Don't think I will be growing any this year...second year of a tattie-free garden!! I need the space to grow lots of other things
Still miss them though..came close to picking up a few Pink Fir Apple...so different and scrummy...might still relent!
Right, need to get to bed soon, really tired, zzzzzz!
Have a good week everyone xx

morning all. How you feeling this morning Pippi??
DDFW yes my windows are cosy. our let in such a draught too (being mostly single glazed, wood framed windows) and a lot of the traffic noise from outside (we live on a main road). That's all changed now - no draught and I feel like I've gone deaf as I can see the traffic going past but can't hear it. Def did the right thing replacing them
KK glad the surveryor was proven wrong. I know they've got to err on the side of caution but some take it too far. Glad things are moving for you now.
LT what if we all pop round and pack one box each. Will that help??

Darn it, the move can't come soon enough now, I've hurt my back (again) and am on the sofa, unable to move
Oh well, at least it'll be a NSD and lovely friends are helping out with DD. DD was a complete superstar and got me my crutches, painkillers, laptop, medicine etc. Just wish the spare bed which is currently in the sitting room (been there for a while whilst I wait for my leg operation and subsequent recovery time) was actually made so I could lie down on it rather than having 2 tons of stuff on it! 0 -

a few Pink Fir Apple...
Googled these and they look lovely - how are they taste wise? Anything like a Charlotte?
A potato related question for all you green thumbs - how much room does a potato need to grow? - I've got three large pots left over from Fushias last year & a about 10 sprouting potatos left over from a 6.5 kg bag that was such a deal it was too good not to buy! Will I be safe putting three in a pot, or is there room for more/less?
FTR - I'm terrible at fussing with plants - if it does not just 'take' then it dies out! - that being said - the back yard has a healthy herb garden going! Bay, rosemary, several thymes, chives, and two kinds of sage. They get a cull every so often & are bartered for a drink or two at the local gastro-pub!

starnac, thanks for your offer, i may yet take it up, but i think it sounds like KK needs all our help first, maybe we should pop around this weekend! I think she'll be moving before me, just found out that we could be a couple of weeks yet trying to sort out some issues (serious ones apparently - nice of them to finally tell me). It's got me all grrrrr-y which i hate being0

Crumbs, take thngs easy KK...rest and accept all the help you can get!! Have you got a TENS machine you can use...and haven't packed?!
LT - oh dear...at least it's only two weeks...hang on in there...and relax!!
Starnac - oooh, lovely cozy windows...would love some double glazing at the front...wooden frames again...one day.....:o
rtandon27 - PFAs are lovely, waxy ...and late season too. They have their own individual taste...a bit nutty. A good place to get seed potatoes is here, as you can buy 10 tubers rather than a few kg...much better for the smaller garden. That way you can try a few more varieties!
As for growing in a pot...how big is large? As a guide, if I am growing tatties in containers, I tend to grow them in old compost bags - 75litre ones (turned inside out)...and I only put three in there. I fill the bottom with about 12"/30cm depth of compost/soil, place the tatties in, then cover with 4"/10cm soil/compost. Once the leaves are peeping through this, then I cover them up again...equivalent to earthing up...continue to do this until you are near the top of the bag. Make a few holes in the bottom of the bag for drainage, don't have in full sun and have the bags on concrete/slabs...they will get too hot in the summer and kill off the plants, or at least stunt the growth and stop so many tubers being produced. Also, don't forget to water them!!! Good luck with whatever you do.
Managed to make a really good soup this moring, even DS2 loves it! Also got some paid IT work done :j Now off to go over my book-keeping /tax stuff for this evening's class...it's all go!
Hope to get some sewing done before I zoom off...another chilly night forecast tonight ...-6 C!!
Enjoy the rest of the day...hope you are able to ease up Pippi...take care of yourself xx

Ah bless you LT, help would be great
I've got some friends coming in a bit to sort out the bed in my sitting room so I can sleep on it tonight (has lots of flat boxes) and another chum brought DD home from school and someone else is going to take her to Rainbows, phew! I am very lucky to have such good friends
Just need to get her some dinner, but that should be easy enough as I have a few tins of soup in the cupboard that we can chuck in a pan.
Annoyingly I don't have a TENS machine but I do have 3 hot water bottles..........which I've packed
I still don't have an exchange date, let alone a completion one, grrr.......feeling a bit sorry for myself today!0 -
(((((((((((((((((KK))))))))))))))))))))) your friends sound lovely. you really are lucky. hope you are feeling better soonGoals for FebruaryDeclutter 2/50Money Made £0/£200Overpayments £0/£2000

KK, you poor thing! Hope you managed to get some sleep ... I feel really bad about not helping, but I'm only just coping myself, truthfully, with what needs to be done before the op next Tuesday.
RT, you have bay! I'm impressed! I very nearly bought one online recently, but realised I'd have to keep it inside for now anyway, so I didn't, I don't need *more* stuff to take care of.
Keiss, that sounds another good day for you - maxing out the learning with HMRC, and then a potter around your fave garden centre, I like the sound of that bit a *lot*
I had a bit of dfw luck this morning when reading through Martin's email - that little trip I'm doing at the end of March, with the stopoff at Coventry, I can go to the National Homebuilding Show in Birmingham
got a free ticket for me, and I haven't yet bought the coach home, so I'm free to juggle that as necessary, I'm really pleased with that. Debated whether to get a Travelodge room in the sale tomorrow, I'm seeing a lot of Margate good stuff in the news at the mo, but I think I'll wait for the next one, so I can go later in the year.
Hope everyone has a good day, and keeps warm - specially you, Pippi, you've had your last intense day of this batch, haven't you, and I *hope* you're relaxing today, finally, or convalescing, actually.2023: the year I get to buy a car0
