finally followed the link and it looks so easy, i may even have to have a go at it. I was wondering if it's worth it as i don't 'do' butter but i 'do' garlic bread and this could be my way of saving money and doing my own. now that's a plan for our new home, that and getting a bread maker. I had to sell mine when i moved into this flat as i didn't have space, also at the time i used to eat one loaf of cheap bread per week so it wasn't really cost effective, these days with Mr LT around and the cost of bread it will soon be beneficial to use a BM. My only bug bear with them is that when they bake you get the hole in them from the beaters, but then that's probably just one of those silly things that bugs me.

Wow, now I'll have to keep a look-out for reduced cream!!!

Odd having no wind in Orkney Pippi...at any time of the year!! :rotfl:

Busy yesterday cleaning house with stardrops...everything nice and sparkly now :D Lil'sis now totally converted after I gave her a bottle before Xmas, still spreading the word!

    Busy this morning:

Flour etc weighed out and waiting for DH to mix and knead it all together. Did a bit too much stretching/standing yesterday, so not up to kneading bread today :o.

Second load of washing waiting to go out.

Made an online food order for delivery on Tuesday, making the most of lots of offers....was quite strict with myself and did a pretty good job! Very busy this next week so best/cheapest way to get shopping done.

Might have a go at ironing this morning, but will probably head off upstairs to the "craft-room"...all sorted and waiting for me to get creative in it!!

Have a lovely Sunday folks xx

  • Well done keiss I hope your craft room got your full attention!

Lt you can do the whole process except baking in the machine, then knock it into a proper tin to get no hole. If you got not a routine, put ingredients in morning, put timer on, by end of your work bread proven by time home, then knock out and bake,.,,,, might work.

Tired womble here, 2nd day o wind, amazing! X

LT that's how we make bread in our house. I (well DD now as she claimes making bread is her job) put the ingredients in the BM select "dough" option then once it's done, get it out, knock it back, then put in either loaf tin or just shape it free hand and bake it.

I did a blind taste test once at my mums. One loaf was left in the BM to bake and the other was made as above. Every one said the one baked in the oven tasted nicer (and you don't get the hole in the bottom which I hate too)

Greying thanks for the butter idea. I have 2 tubs of cream close to their date in the fridge and I was wondering what to do with them. I think I will make butter with them this afternoon. How fab thank you

  • All bread and butter chat on here!

First off, apologies for being a bit AWOL, busy few weeks catching up on hours (paid) for the land of the wombles, then today up banks done, car to garage then flight to mainland to attend a 'social networking' days workshop. I'm here for three days, travel each day either side.

I'm on a bus! How utterly exciting.

    :)

Starnac loving dd makes the bread. Have a great day! I'm going to get checked in when in toon and meet up with a pal later for lunch. Xx

I've had a 'visitor' in the garden several times over the last few days. We have commercial pheasant /Grouse shooting on the fields nearby. Just occassionally the odd pheasant that isn't terminally stupid realises that if someone is intent on shooting you it's time to move. The result is a male pheasant strutting proudly around the back garden. The fact that they are large/colourful and Max hasn't spotted it yet says a lot about her eyesight but she keeps following it's scent once it's gone!
