  • OK PAID yay - from invigilating etc £300 :) need to put that to the cards!!!!!

Took £10 out cash yesterday and most of the coffee/lunch spends which can be claimed back, I got a £10 voucher for a local shop (shearers) and raided there 50p bucket and got 20 items :) including 5 boxes cereal - and lots cupboard stuff - all green city and alike - you have to spend the voucher all at once - job done - bag full, very happy and aside that nsd for me.

And, I cut up the lemons and froze them yesterday - yay.

    Morning Pippi and gang :hello:

Brrrr! 'tis cold this morning. car said it was -4! Just had to defrost windows and get it started so that DP can go off to work. Sure the weather forecast said it was only going down to -1 last night! Eeek! Was lucky as we didn't have the central heating on. Only had the log burner going, which keeps us warm and the heat trickles upstairs, so keeps parts of the house 'lukewarm'. Hope everyone else is warm and toasty!

In the spirit of recycling/frugal living/slow food etc etc, I made butter!! I happened on 5 pots (300ml) of double cream going for 11pennies each in a local teeny Mr t's. For a bit of work (but t'was fun!) I got 500ml of buttermilk and 800g of butter. Even using 'value' butter prices, that means my 55p investment yielded about £4.00 worth - buttermilk goes for about £1 a litre at the local farmers market. I used the buttermilk for a cheese sauce to top a Pastichio (veggie version) I made, and 700g of butter, in 100g baking blocks has made it's way into the freezer. 100g of butter was kept aside and some went into the cheese sauce and the rest is in the fridge. I know the buttermilk can be frozen for scones etc, but a) I've some in the freezer - bought - doh! - and b) there is not one square inch of space left in my freezer!

    Have a grreat day all.
