and thanks for the advice re double boiling chicken. i've got the bones boiling as we speak
Oh that sounds yummy too - we normally do a pie the kids love it - all the benefits of a roast dinner wrapped in pastry - Ds thinks its heaven in a pie - I love your idea too - my next chookie will have a go at that.:DLemon_Tree wrote: »i think they use double boiled chicken bones for chinese style soups
I didn't know that - there you are I was surprised and how much more stock and doggy gunk you got - as well as a very clean stack of bones. Not much to show for that delicious well loved local chook (not one of mine:eek: couldn't possibly eat the girls - they are far too efficient!)Lemon_Tree wrote: »you put me to shame with your card recyclingi sometimes cut them up for tags but never reuse them otherwise, i do nick bits from them though, and always filch ribbons and buttons.

glad it's not just me Starnac lol
it's saved us loads though as you can't get boxes from shops round here any more and they wanted about £30 for 40 boxes. argh! Mr LT has already brought 40 + boxes home and although we have some left we still need a lot more. every little helps i guess0 -

definately. our boxes at work get put out with the recycling once we've taken the pads out and stored them so we're actually reducing waste too cos a lot of them are still in the atticGoals for FebruaryDeclutter 2/50Money Made £0/£200Overpayments £0/£2000 -

We used to do this for boxing day but my big sister is far to efficient with her left overs.
I loved it, a posh squabble and beak:j Proud Member of Mike's Mob :j0 -
Squabble and beak! I love that :j
Excellent on the recycling cardboard - stick it on the garden as mulch tho, and as it decomposes it will act as a soil improver.
LT, using cards for shopping lists definitely counts as recycling, re-using in fact, which is even better - you can still stick it in the recycling bin afterwards anyway.
Loving the double boiling, tho I don't need to do it myself as a vegetarian. Its given me an idea tho - Pippi, what about grinding the bones to sprinkle on the soil? There's blood and bone fertiliser sold, after all, tho I'd never buy it myself. You know they're disease free after all that boiling. What do you think?2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Morning all! Maty loving the squabble and beak!
KC very right LT you're being great on the reusing!
I did also think about the bones, my food mixers not strong enough to break them down sadly, gave it a go yesterday.......:(
