Pippi -found my gloves, panic over! ...but I have already started knitting another pair, so more to lose! :rotfl:
LT - I think your tree is a Norway Maple (Acer platanoides "Crimson King"), rather than a sycamore, though they are acers too, so close cousins!
I've had a great, though tiring day at the Malvern Spring Garden Show today. It was the first day, and was a bit soggy, with plenty of mud aroundI wandered round the floral marquee (spotted Carol Klein being filmed) before working for three hours on a stand..it was manic, with no time to sit down, never mind have lunch!! Managed to sit on a bench and eat at 3:30!! Still, I managed to catch up with a good friend who I hadn't seen for nearly two years, hich was lovely. On my way back to the car I didn't even have a squint at the designer gardens..is that so naughty of me?
I did get some toms and pepper plants, so we can have a few at the "normal" fruiting time, with the rest performing later...that's if they come up! One of my cucumbers are up after 4 days, so pretty good there.
Need to go and relax for a bit before eading for bed.
Have a wonderful weekend away Pippi, hope the weather is good for you x

Keiss, i did wonder if it was a maple then talked myself out of it and into a sycamore when i look up in my plant book, only because i couldn't comprehend having a huge maple in my side garden. Not sure how common they are, probably ten a penny lol. If i tell Mr LT that it's a maple he'll be having a go at trying to get sugar from it.0

Hi Pippi,
Sorry have not had time to catch up with your diary, but I have a crisis.......................................
I have ran out of eggs at the diner can you help please.
Hope all is going ok with you and your family, I will try to catch up with all of your adventures. Talking of adventures, how is the lovely Darwin?
Take Care and lots of love, have you heard off our Darling Jo at all?
Its so deserted at that diner, I mean, "WHERE IS EVERYONE"?
Big hugs (())

LT - not sure if the sap will be sugary enough here in the UK, don't think we have extreme enough temperatures. Sycamores and Maples are all acers, only think a very few give decent maple syrup though! Good luck, check on-line for help on how to tap the tree for sap.
Pippi - hope you are having a wonderful time in sunny and warm englandshire.:D:D
I've been out weeding in a t-shirt today, but very tired, so didn't get much done. Did make two focaccia loaves as well as a double batch of oat and raisin cookies though...yummmmm! The site where I had my hernia op last year has been hurting quite a bit today, so had to take things easier than I had planned to do.
At least we can see more of the patio, having got rid of a few more weeds...they are sooo tall this year!
I have an all day singing workshop tomorrow, looking forward to it. Not sure how much voice I will have left at the end of it though!!
Enjoy the rest of the weekend everyone xx

it has been lovely today hasn't it Keiss, I'm getting washing dry and we've been and bought some pond plants. We started playing around with the pond yesterday only to discover that the filter and attached pump didn't work so we've had to scout around for replacements.
Funny how people see things differently, for us our pond is huge, it's about 3 times bigger than the one we used to have at the flat before we filled it up, according to the guy in the shop its on the smaller side of medium, guess it's all relative. But it was interesting to know as we were convinced we needed stuff for a large pond but thankfully we don't.0 -
Morning all breakfast at the airport, how exciting.
Hope you've all had a great weekend!
I'm heading homewards, off to find a quiet spot and work for a few hours.
Will catch up over the morning.

Money money money.
Not spent much over weekend :-) even have 'treats money' left.
Xpenses in from work £139
Just transferred that straight to cc.
Waiting for a silly amount of invoices to be paid, which will also all go into cc's.
Busy old week at work this week. Need to hunker down and make a list. Got my work book with me and paperwork to do. Noisy here may leave the 'serious' writing til I'm tucked on plane in quiet but do my lists/ mind maps here and draw crazy pictures of scariness!
Lt pond sounds fun, tell mr lt only the sugar maple gives the syrup, bad luck!
Keiss hope you feel better.
Budgie hey up lovely Darwin has been sulking but is now coming into his own, slowing getting back on the road. Eggs galore at home, I'll pop some by the diner. Not heard from jo for a bit, lost her mob number when switched phones (lost everyone's numbers when switched phones). Hope you're well lovely?
Greying did you see me on the end of the pier of noisiness waving? And, did you spot the paddling??
RT I'm so glad you had a giggle, hope the dust n here didn't choke you!
And talking of to do lists I must do ne.
First will be - don't fall asleep before getting on the plane, that would not be cool.

glad you're home safely. Are you voting with the tree being a Maple as well? I'll break the bad news to Mr LT about the lack of syrup lol0

Eh up lt, now wonder you were confused, sycamores are acers, they're all in the same genus and basically the same thing, like keiss said. Great help there Keiss, I'd never be brave enough to give a cultivar name, just a ball park idea, well done you!
From a photo no one can really Identify your lovely tree down to a specific cultivar or variety properly (not even Sir Alan of the titchmarch) hybrids are so specific but a rough ball park is that it's definitely a purple/red leaved big maplely acery tree which is wonderful isn't it. And that's so cool.
You sure you haven't moved to Canada?
Sorry about the syrup! X
