So what's behind your Ma's panics? I mean, has something ever actually gone wrong that she might have assumed was going to happen again? I admit I used to get my Mum to phone me every night because I was worried after she had a fall. A few times she fell asleep and got woken up when I called the neighbours out! However although I obviously got it wrong on these occasions, there were other times when there was something wrong and she had to be rescued.

If there's no 'history', is your Mum just worrying because you have meds to take, or she thinks you might have been mugged or you might have collapsed from not eating or any of that sort of thing? It sounds as though the worrying is taking over her life, whatever the cause. Is she the same with your sister?

  • Hi Erme,

Hope your Edinburgh friends come round, maybe after a few days it will be forgotten.

I echo Miggy re your Mum, it sounds like she really worries and feels she has to check up on you, is there a reason behind it or a way you can try to reasurre her?

Guys I've been really sick in the past and done some pretty dumb things so I guess that's why Ma panics.

Most of that was a long time ago but some of it was only last May.... (and I was supposed to be in hospital at the time)...

But like I know who to phone if I'm sick and Ma knows that...

Also Ma is scared (and I mean scared witless) of death per se so she's scared that might happen to me....

DS would just have a tantrum if Ma did the same to her. And really as I can vouch for DS's tantrums are to be feared......She's excluded me for long enough for dumb stuff that happened 10-15 years ago...I think Ma is scared of even saying Boo to DS in case she does the same thing...

    anyhow

    I digress

I have some snooze (and nothing to do with men :j)

I made my first successful e-cig tank (makes it look like a hubba bubba pipe basically and means I don't have to top up the carto every two secs. Also means one carto lasts 3-4 days rather than 30 hours)

Does anyone remember the first tank I made way back in November (and I said never again to homemade tanks or home made e-cig anything)...20 mins later and I realised I'd leaked 5ml of juice (e-liquid) all over my hands ...one whopping nic overdose .....

    Fortunately I survived

This one was basically the same as that first attempt but with some additions...

Extra plastic shaved off the top and bottom of the bottle (with my embroidery scissors) and grommets (just wiring ones 1/2 inch diameter because I've found them to be a perfect fit for my diddy cartos. Don't believe every youtube video on this one...really they use the bigger cartos. Hence the bigger grommets. I made the mistake of buying 5/8 inch grommets (or were they 7/8 inch) the other week and one look told me they were too big ). from the auto shop....

Cost - 5ml plastic bottle (used normally for storing e-cig juice. widely available from e-cig vendors online) - about £1...grommets £1.49 (for two cos they came in pack of four - 2 3/8 inch (which is what I thought I originally needed but they were too small) and 2 1/2 inch (that fitted)...plus wasted juice (my juice is cheap as chips so no idea) about 10-15ml...Gloves = £1 for 20 (had them in though. Am going to try and get them on prescription though next time I see a nice GP. Or have a word with the handsome pharmacist cos I get free prescriptions)....

    Satisfaction - priceless

Was bad and spent £8.60 or something on 1000 plastic gloves

Figured I would use them (probably won't LOL...might be good for ebay though)

Better though than spending £1 a time on 20...

This was late last night...I didn't get to sleep till 1am despite taking my meds....going out to Mr S for a few bits and bobs (they had 4 pints of cravendale whoopsied to 50p a carton. I naturally got 2...that's milk for a week :j) and I had a few head probs so the evening routine was out of the question...

So good to get into some sort of routine this am even if like I'm tired. Don't know if I will make volunteering later or not. Depends how tired I am. If I'm too tired to walk I won't go. Simple. We'll see. But they have to be told sooner rather than later. And I missed Friday to boot due to cleaning the kitchen

So savings (RDF) spent on e-cig.... bits and bobs. Not to worry. And like £10 taken out of OD just to 'see if I could' (maybe that was bad thing LOL) but £8 put back in and we're way on target for that. Should be cleared by end of next month. I just have to get back to my frugal ways like before xmas...

I guess that explains why your Mum is how she is, and I don't really know the answer, though I think it would help both of you if she could step back a bit. Do you know you're sick when you are? Sometimes it's hardest to see it in ourselves.

How has the new tank been? Hope you got it working okay. And the groceries?

I have spent ages today cleaning up what turned out to be a really grubby windowsill - I have loads of plants in some of the windows which makes it worse, but that's no excuse. Anyway the windows are nice now and I've got some other jobs done too.

Yeah the homemade tank is fine.....some wee probs with it but nothing major.....

So like when tired ordered a bigger tank and bigger bits and bobs (£22) but got a refund for it this am so once paypal is through it'll be fine.

And like OD charges this month are £7 down from £10 last month :)

Just sitting here waiting for postie and what not and about to start studying as am physically lousy so housework can wait...

    Hi Erme,
I've seen your posts to LG so thought I'd pop along and say hello to you too.
I can relate to the food plan difficulties. I'm always so tired when I get home that cooking just feels like the last thing I want to do! You sound like you make a strong effort to keep on top of things - with exam passes in there too! Well done! :)
