Can anyone recommend some self help books for the OP?

I'll recommend that to my wife. Does she live with her parents too?0 -
From the full report it doesn't look like that much of a surge to me.
http://www.lslps.co.uk/documents/house_price_index_nov11.pdf
Transaction levels in November were at 66% of the long term average whereas they were at 70% in September.
For these statistics to have any significance you would need to see a steady increase (giving a graph that looks a bit like a ramp)."When the people fear the government there is tyranny, when the government fears the people there is liberty." - Thomas Jefferson0 -
The number of homes sold surged up by 4.5pc last month, helped by frozen interest rates and the "loosest mortgage lending conditions seen since the Lehman Brothers collapse".
I knew what I was witnessing - rapid property sales - wasn't an illusion!!!
And it's spread across the country too, not just in the rich South!!
Excellent news for the majority ... bad news for those STR's of course ..... but not many have sympathy for those who treat their home as an investment and making their families live in rented hell ...
My plan is still working:)0 -
Thing is, if house prices are solid then more homes will come to the market - people are buying and will continue to do so.
This is very healthy as movement happens, confidence rises and buyers are served with quality homes once more.
We all benefit from increased movement in the market and that can only happen when prices start reflecting what sellers 'think' they should be ... in the South that has happened - it was as if a switch was flicked in late September. A buy switch, as everything has been sold.Bringing Happiness where there is Gloom!0 -
You keep stating everything has been sold, although the stats dont back that up do they, a quick look on rightmove sees that theres plenty for sale. Lots thats has been up for a long time and significant numbers with reductions.
What months figures are you quoting as up? As your link to the Telegraph didnt actually have any figs about house sales.
If you are suggesting September, October were good months, then perhaps you ought to have a re-read of this... http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-16109139
There are some very mixed reports out there, but the recent ones include:
Land Reg - Down
Nwide - Up
Halifax - Down
New mortgages - down (yoy and mom)
To pick one stat and claim everything is rosey is a little one dimension...0 -
Speaking from someone who is in the removal business , I can only say that people are moving , we ( touch wood ) have been kept busy more or less all year flat out at the moment ) . I cant of course comment on at what price the houses have been sold and boughtVuja De - the feeling you'll be here later0

Yeah, we had a similar switch flicking incident round my way.
It was the switch for high house prices.
It wont turn back on as far as i can see:)0 -
I did kindly offer my services to MrRee to help him find a house. However he has yet to respond to my kind offer.0

Well, as an example .... type into RM ... Mudeford, Christchurch - up to £260k .... and see all the sold markers. Plenty have been sold and removed, of course.Bringing Happiness where there is Gloom!0
