You don't seem to be able to get past the fact that simply having a job title with the word director in it, doesn't automatically mean you are a director with legal liability.

    Did I say that?
    I said,
But categorically in the UK if you carry the duties of a director or are a director by name and do the duties (but not on companies house records) you carry the legal responsibilities of a director.

So if you have the title and influence the direction of the company you are liable, even if not registered at companies house (director by name)

Your other points are plain nonsense as you are using directors without directional influence , of course an artisitc director would not be liable they are not directing the direction of the company, likewise a director of football.

But that is vastly different to a finance director by name, or many other named titles that do have influence over the direction and decision making of the company.

I don't give two hoots really if you believe me, it's your own head.
But it would be foolish to make out it is not true to others,

Here is the same advice from Lloyds TSB business also, even if you don't have the title "Director".
    http://www.lloydstsbbusiness.com/support/businessguides/becoming_a_company_director.asp
Be aware that if someone effectively acts as a director, whether or not they have the title, they may be regarded legally as a director. For example, this applies to someone, other than an expert specialist adviser, on whose advice the directors of a company are accustomed to act. This person may be viewed as a shadow director.

So sorry you are in the wrong, but if you want to carry on thinking having a title and influencing the direction of a company does not mean you are responsible be my guest.

If I am wrong perhaps you need to back up what you say and point out where I am wrong and why lloyds TSB are miss advising people.
My life would be more secure if what you are arguing is the case.

The reason the debate is going no where fast as you seem not to be reading the response.

It may not be the case personally for you, I just said having two Directors reporting to you and having a high status job in your company it may effect you.
Sorry if you found that offensive, but it is not incorrect. There is nothing wrong with senior people educating themselves on how their job/position could be perceived should something go drastically wrong.

Better to check yourself that rely on others IMHO.

That is a shame, honestly. If you could of provided me with some evidence I could have looked at changing my title.

I am all for having my mind changed, but not only by the word of someone on the internet on such an important matter. A bit of evidence other than I am right you are wrong would have helped a lot.

You said that a few weeks ago.

If i had taken your advice i would have wasted around 5k.

Quite a few 5k discounts by one estate agent in my area but not one of them has sold.

May as well hang on for a bit longer:D
