Hes offered to hand deliver proof MrRee, why not take him up on it if you really are who you say you are. Perhaps he could call you at your head office with your 10,000 workers...

Or maybe your bedsit woudlnt quite live up to your claims?

    the offer still stands

i can support what i say about my role with whatever evidence you like. i'll bring anything you need as proof of my employment.

i'm down in the new forest this weekend, so you are only a few minutes away. as i said, PM me your address (which i will keep confidential) and i will drive to you and bring the evidence you want. and whilst i'm there, you can show me your mansion, your supercar collection and your business empire

if you say no again, this only goes to demonstrate that you have been hoisted by your own petard

OK, I'll play along with you ...... name the Company and I'll believe you. Once I have contacted the person you say you are, of course.

I will, unconditionally, come on here and issue an apology for ever doubting you.

Beware though, impersonating someone may have serious consequences for you.

I shall take the lack of name, title and company to be your admission that you are a fake and your life is a sham ...... over to you.

Should be easy enough to find out who Marlon is. Put “bedsit rental” and “wealthy FTSE 100 director” into Google.

I honestly doubt any FTSE 100 director is fool enough to hold out for the next big house price crash, and waste their valuable time on here back slapping twit1234, geneer, and macque – all sitting in either their mum’s spare room or some rented bedsit.

The last crash ended in early 2009 – there should be another one along in 12 -15 years.

I don't know nor care if marlon is a director in a FTSE company.

What it shows to me is how ill-informed the general public is about senior job titles. I think people here get the idea that a director in a FTSE company is the sort of suited, cigar smoking, London club type, who does 3 hours a month for six figure director fees.

I know various people with the title director in blue chip organisations. Some are directors of HR, IT, accounts. One is even a director of Diversity, one is a director of learning and development and one is a director of corporate responsibility. They are all in their mid to late 30s, and not particularly senior.

I myself have a director equivalent title (actually, i'm called a 'Heads of'). It doesnt mean that much.

So what is your role then? If you're so disparaging of others?

Who's being disparaging of others? I was simply pointing out that people tend to hear the word director in a job title, and think it automatically means some business grandee. It doesn't usually.

My job is well known on this forum. I've never hidden it.

My official title is Head of Marketing and Business Development, Asia. I work for a large international law firm.
  • Bendix is right; job titles can be misleading. I used to be impressed when many of my mates were "Account Executives", when it's just another office job really.

Not sure why people are getting their knickers in a twist over idiots on the internet though. It's like being angry at the sea for being salty.
