gem see i am unsure if to go for a more expensive. I want a small car and my dream car is a fiat 500 (classic car) so a micra is like a bubble so i dont really know?

yes od would be the best bet but again it depends on the car as if i get a more expensive one i will need a loan  the insurance i would love to pay full out but i wouldnt have enough. So it will be repayments the first year while saving for the next year. Any debt i get to get a car will be gone within 6 months without a doubt. Even if it means loads of overtime and ebaying like mad.

gem If i am honest i would say if i wasnt dfw i would be getting a loan and not thining anything of it, not thinking each hour what i should do. I know i can clear the debt but its like everytime i clear something i seem to get more debt :rotfl: with relying on the car i will be to an extent but i have a bus service so if anything goes wrong i always have that to fall back on. With regards to buying a car i have an uncle thats a mechanic that will help me find a car i hope. Also i am looking to service the car within the first 6 months depending when the mot is.

jet I will quidco it all ;) that i can do dfw style ~ as for facebook i understand.

Pap if you are thinking of buying a car for £375 - £400 check out the difference in insurances between third party and fully comp. Also take into consideration the excess charges which can sometimes be as high as £300.
In that circumstance if you had to pay £300 or so of any claim it just wouldn't be worth doing fully comp,so may be better third party. Why would you want to pay out say £300 to have a car worth £375 fixed after an accident etc. The insurers would probably just write it off and give you market value anyway.definately worth looking into before you decide:confused:

Also i just got greenflag breakdown through quidco for £46.50 with £20 cashback so effectively only £26.50 - a little saving there.

  • PAP, my gf got her first car this year at 21, her insurance is £500 and that is for a 1.3. So really shop around for your insurance.

    Not cashback but try

The Policy Shop - Broker that did very well for me previously.

Adrian Flux - Current Broker. Both are very good for young drivers and although you dont get cash back if your insurance is £200 cheaper you'll be better off!

Also blatantly fib when they ask you what your best quote has been as they will then try and match it!

Classic cars are often much cheaper on insurance actually. I know a guy of 18 who has some classic beast of a car (3 litre thing) who only pays £300 for insurance!

Plus if a car is 25 years old you pay no road tax. My son has a classic car (VW Karman Ghia) costs him £60 a year on insurance, but it only comes out on high days and holidays. :rotfl: :rotfl:
