hiya gf, thats what the extra £50 per month saved and 1/2 of the £250 left over will be saved for each month. Also i will still be trying to raise my £2500 this year so i will always have that to fall back onto if needed.0

postingalwaysposting wrote: »sea ~ thanks yes expense  trying to work out costings for the micra i would like... so far i have yearly
£750.00 ~ insurance (first year repayments) Is this an estimate? My first years insurance for a 5 yr old fiesta was only £450 ish - u could check this by putting the info into a comparison site
 £50.00 ~ mot
£115.00 ~ car tax Depends on age and fuel type of car.... will look to see if I can find out more info
 £33.00 ~ rac breakdown cover
 £120.00 ~ car service
 £60.00 ~ oil/lights/wiper blades etc etc
£600.00 ~ petrol (£50 per month unsure if this is enough) Obviously depend on how far u drive etc, but I ise mine evry day and I spend this a month (but mine is expensive diesel!)
total = £1728.00 ~ monthly £144.00 (so including what i already pay for bus fares an extra £94.00)
 so thinking with my soa
 £700.00 ~ income (worse case)
£255.72 ~ other bills (one £10 bill every 3 months, no bus fares and £50 savings)
£50.00 ~ weekly spends exc petrol ~ 5 week month
£144.00 ~ car costs (outlined above) everything bar monthly payments will be saved
 £50.00 ~ extra car savings
 total expen = £499.72
leftover = £250.28 (however i will try and save the insurance for the following year on the car as above will be monthly)
now at present i have found a great car (on paper) for less than £500 which i think is ideal. I dont want an expensive thing that *touch wood* i may have an accident in. My dream car can wait a few years (ie over 5) when i have a bit more experience and no claims *touch wood*.
now its just affording the car in the first place ~ this is where i become stuck initally  i have my very small savings but they are mostly locked and if i withdraw before september i lose the 7% interest. I have the little ammount in my bank but not enough obviously. This is where the three months thing come into practice as unless i take out an overdraft/loan i cant afford it and the latter definatly isnt happening :rotfl:
I have check putting me on mums car and sadly it will cost over £600.00 till her policy ends. So imo that isnt worth it as i would be paying effectively 2 insurances untill november.
gem ~ the cream i think i brought on a reduced day as everywhere seems to be the same £8.95 for a 25g tub ~ but thats the only one i know works.
Added a little bit above...... just a another thought, and I'm not sure how it works with new drivers, but because of the low value of my car, I only insured it 3rd party (I have been driving since '97 tho)
Hvae to submit now so I can read back
 Ok, back again.....
 http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/4834480.stm
found this which applies to any car registered after Mar 2001, but it would be different for older cars.... I know mine was £170, but its an old diesel...

I used comparison sites etc and this is the cheapest quote rounded to the nearest £50. I dont think its too bad myself for a 22 yr old first driver

I guess this is the most i would spend but i will prob fill the car up on payday and then work from there but i cant imagine spending more than £50 per month and if i do i will ahev to cut down journeys etc

Do you know, I have insured my car 3rd party fire and theft because it is cheaper, but I am so wary not being fully comp because you just never know what can happen. As I understand it, 3rd party, fire and theft covers u for just that - 3rd party is if u hit someone else or they hit you. Fully comp covers u for all the above but also covers you for any other damage ie u hit something whilst reversing or - God forbid! - u come off the road and total ur carpostingalwaysposting wrote: »The third party thing has been mentioned to me as low value car but to be honest i am unsure whats the difference 'We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars' - Oscar Wilde0 'We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars' - Oscar Wilde0
