Is it better to aim for the stars and hit a tree or aim for a tree and land in its branches

  • evening all well everyone knows now ~ hide it for ages then the store manager got wind so it ended up on the tannoy  slighty annoyed though as i wanted to tell everyone in my own time. But you guess it i had everyone asking when i was getting a car etc etc  so not the best day ever. It did feel really weird getting on a bus though hehe, mum has touched on getting a loan for a car though but i dont want her to sway me that way ~ but its hard. I did get a free bottle of expensive champayne mind for being the top coffee shop of all the stores :j

Now i havent been well all day (well few days but i have been putting it off) so decided to got to the chemist for some tabs ~ costing £3.75 but while i was there i picked up my cream it had only gone up £2.95 oh teh joys. So now i am over budget and no doubt i will have messed my budgets up. I am now going to hunt online and fid where i can buy it cheaper

also i have realised i can get vikings through quidco so i will order the book tonight ~ again not budggeted for as such but needs must.

off to change my sig to the olympic challenge now :rotfl:

£2.95 is heck of an increase! Could you get it prescribed?

  • sea ~ thanks yes expense  trying to work out costings for the micra i would like... so far i have yearly
£750.00 ~ insurance (first year repayments)
    £50.00 ~ mot
    £115.00 ~ car tax
    £33.00 ~ rac breakdown cover
    £120.00 ~ car service
    £60.00 ~ oil/lights/wiper blades etc etc
£600.00 ~ petrol (£50 per month unsure if this is enough)

total = £1728.00 ~ monthly £144.00 (so including what i already pay for bus fares an extra £94.00)

    so thinking with my soa

    £700.00 ~ income (worse case)

£255.72 ~ other bills (one £10 bill every 3 months, no bus fares and £50 savings)
£50.00 ~ weekly spends exc petrol ~ 5 week month
£144.00 ~ car costs (outlined above) everything bar monthly payments will be saved
    £50.00 ~ extra car savings

    total expen = £499.72

leftover = £250.28 (however i will try and save the insurance for the following year on the car as above will be monthly)

now at present i have found a great car (on paper) for less than £500 which i think is ideal. I dont want an expensive thing that *touch wood* i may have an accident in. My dream car can wait a few years (ie over 5) when i have a bit more experience and no claims *touch wood*.

now its just affording the car in the first place ~ this is where i become stuck initally  i have my very small savings but they are mostly locked and if i withdraw before september i lose the 7% interest. I have the little ammount in my bank but not enough obviously. This is where the three months thing come into practice as unless i take out an overdraft/loan i cant afford it and the latter definatly isnt happening :rotfl:

I have check putting me on mums car and sadly it will cost over £600.00 till her policy ends. So imo that isnt worth it as i would be paying effectively 2 insurances untill november.

gem ~ the cream i think i brought on a reduced day as everywhere seems to be the same £8.95 for a 25g tub ~ but thats the only one i know works.

If you can get a decent quote through Pru then they have breakdown cover included and do cashback on Quidco. Worth a look, I was with them in my second year and they were very reasonable.
