Thanks again
I started at 16 too, as you can probably tell by my name lol, I have an ISA but don't use it
you're welcome.
:T:T
good stuff! don't dip in to your isa...only for emergencies (e.g. if you need to pay for 1p items and don't have any change). i have never dipped into my isa savings because if i take anything out, i will not be allowed to put money back in (because i put in the max amount).

stolen from the main grabbit board.
Tesco - J20 pricing error
morning all
had to share this one - went to tesco last night to do my shopping and 2 of the 4 packs of J20 scanned for £2.34 instead of the listed 2 for £5.
The manager was called over who honoured the sale but said it must have been loaded wrong ... suggest you get buying before they fix it as at that price its almost as good as the Morries buy 1 get 2 free last weeklife is like a loo roll. the nearer the end you get, the faster it goes.0 -
i've opened one account per year putting in the full allowance on the first day of each tax year...and changed banks every couple of years to maximise on interests.
i'd say 5% of my brain is dedicated to money saving and always has been since i was a kid. :rotfl:
I can't remember how it works but I'm pretty sure you're only allowed one ISA. Anyone more clued up on this?
You don't need to open multiple ISA's anyway. I can't remember what the limit is per year these days but lets say it's 3K...
You open an ISA with XYZ bank in 2009 and put the full 3K in to it. After a year you can then top it up with a further 3K. After another year you can then top it up again with a further 3K.
1 ISA = 9K after 3 years. Or have I got it wrong? It's too early in the day for my brain to be working.:rotfl:
If you are allowed multiple ISA's then I guess they come in handy if the limit per year is 3K and you 6K/9K to invest per year. But what student has £300 let alone 3K? it's all spent on wild nights out and pizza.;);) :rotfl:0 -

Actually it's only 1 this time time around.
It says a lot when Scotland has more giant pandas than it has Tory MP's.:rotfl::rotfl:0 -

:rotfl: it is too early in the day!
with your scenario:
2009: 3k with any isa provider
2010: 3k with any isa provider (same or different from previous year)
2011: 3k with any isa provider (same or different from previous year)
so...
...you could have 3 accounts with 1 bank, 3 accounts with 3 seperate banks or 3 accounts with 2 banks.:grouphug:Official MSE canny forumite and HUKD VIP badge member
