Sorry- yes he does get his student loan as well - I assumed ( possibly incorrectly) that the Op was entitled to a student loan also
to Mumps
my husband has tried to claim JSA - but they told us that his private pension cancels out his entitlement to cash - he does sign on but only for his NI credit
I have never claimed DLA for myself, but do currently get IB which also counts as income for the purposes of my husbands JSA claim
Person one- thanks for clarifying about the difference in the Nursing courses
Flea - not sure whether or not you are eligible for any other bursaries or loans - but my son gets his NHS Bursary and his student loan and that amounts to about £5200 per annum
which to be fair, is not too bad - his rent is £66 per week and he gets a bus pass to travel to the Uni - he is quite frugal and hasn't run up any other debts such as overdrafts - he did have a bit of money saved before he went from his summer jobs before starting uni - but he has never received anything like £11k per year0 -

Nobody studies for a nursing degree in the evenings!0 -

these are the figures i was quoted by a Uni recently. £4375 maintenance loan, £3065 student loan, £3250 maintenance grant, plus NHS bursary/associated expenses on top
was told that any household with an income under £25k would be entitled to all the above

well, I completed all the forms I could find available - which was the bursary and the student loan and that was all I could find.
if you can shed any light on the maintenance loan I would be grateful in case my son is missing out- although to be fair he is managing on what he gets and I would prefer him to not leave Uni saddled with too much debt - so maybe we wouldn't apply for it anyway.0 -

"£4375 maintenance loan, £3065 student loan, £3250 maintenance grant, plus NHS bursary/associated expenses on top"
For NHS courses you don't get the grant.
It's currently means tested bursary + maintenance loan which is a set amount of either around 1,800 if with parents, 2500 the rest of the country and over 3,000 if in London.
As from next year there will be a grant, but that will be £1,000 for everyoneMisc debts - £5,000 | Student loan - £9,000 | Mortgage - £180,000
