Hyperemisis is the one major thing that seriously puts me off having anymore children.

    Sorry for your loss Zziggi.
My son is destined to be an only child as i could not face another pregnancy.
My Hyperemisis was not as severe as yours (only lasted until week 26) but I could not go through it again.

However when I became pregnant with DD2 I decided to really research possible cures........and I found one Spearmint oil .....a couple of drops on a hankie put under your pillow at night .

Please though, do check with your midwife before using any aromatherapy oils during pregnancy....Even though spearmint oil is one the "safe oils" to use during pregnancy I still think it's always best to err on the side of caution when pregnant.

i really sympathise with everyone on here, i had it all the time in both pregnancies, it's totally miserable. like others on here have mentioned, it would get to the point where i was throwing up blood, bile etc. when there was nothing else left in there. (and also like others have said, i was told it was nothing and stop making a fuss!)

it's awful, and it's not 'morning sickness' is it! it's 24-7 sickness. and everything you normally like smells 'off' , i had it all the way through both times. it's supposed to be a good sign that the baby's growing well, that's what they kept telling me.

and it leaves such an attractive rash of broken blood vessels all over your face, which match the delightful bloodshot eyes too!

spearmint, as quoted above, also peppermint oil has the same effect but stronger. also, peppermint teabags.

keep a stash of mints to suck on at all times. (keep separate packets in car/bag/coat pockets)

always have plain crackers with you as well, especially by the bed so you can slowly have one before you get up.

ginger can work, if only you could stomach it! (if that makes sense)

the seabands are ok sometimes, but not perfect. they are based on acupressure but do not press on hard enough imo. pressing on the same point on your inner wrist yourself, with your other hand, can have a better, stronger effect.

if you can afford it, acupuncture might be able to help, or some doctor's provide it on the nhs. (wish i had known this when i was pregnant!)

strangely, i normally like fruit, veg etc. but during the pregnancies these always smelled 'off' or rotten. (they weren't ). peversely,processed/junk food smelled better, and i don't normally like it, how weird is that?

edit to say: another horrible thing about it is, when you suddenly can't stand the smell of people you love, dh for example!(it's not them, it's you!)
