  • Tepid peppermint tea sweetened with honey was the only thing that took the edge of my morning sickness.

On the plus side my midwife said that morning sickness is usually the sign of a healthy pregnancy.

You cannot live as I have lived an not end up like me.

Oi you lot - please :heart:GIVE BLOOD  - you never know when you and yours might need it back! 67 pints so far.
  • I'm right there with you OP!
Currently about 12 weeks with number two and starting to feel slightly more human...although perhaps I'm just getting used to it!
Anyway, I second the apples suggestion. I find if I eat a slice of apple every couple of hours it seems to really help. Something about the pectin, apparently.

    Good luck!

If I had all the money I'd spent on drink, I'd spend it on drink.

I was told that too. Not sure if they are old wives tales though. Was also told that women with severe sickness have big babies (mine was 9lb10) but again could be a myth

I never found a cure. I lived off peas and bread for 9 months as that was all I really fancied. Tried seaband and ginger etc but nothing helped.

Hopefully it won't go on too much longer for you, hope you feel better soon
Give me the boy until he's seven and i'll give you the man.
  • With DD1 I had mild morning sickness with DD2 I had all day sickness, couldn't travel in the car without feeling yukky. Somebody recommended electro acunpuncture - believe me at that stage I was willing to try anything although was very skeptical, the first time I went it was a lot better afterwards but still had the odd day, went back and was so pleased with the results, maybe worth a try?

As for big babies, DD2 was a week late but only 8 lb 2.

    Good luck

  • Hi there,
I can sympathise because I had all day sickness for the first 3 months of my pregnancy, and spent most of my day with my head in the toilet bowl!

I tried absolutely everything and nothing worked apart from the pressure bands that you use for travel sickness. These really worked for me - didn't do much for my image, I think people thought I was trying to set a new trend!

Just a suggestion, it might not work for you but it's worth a try. On a positive note my midwife told me that morning sickness is a sign of a strong placenta and healthy baby.

Its a long time since I suffered from sickness in pregnancy, but my god did I suffer! I found having something like a couple of rich tea biscuits before I even got out of bed helped. I didnt like ginger at all! Smells would ALWAYS make me vomit, butchers shops, fabric conditioner etc. The best pregnancy I had for this problem was when we went down to the seaside for a few days at about 14 weeks! The change of air seemed to make me a lot better and the sickness did not return.

The post that said about big babies was probably right, cause I had a 9lb 6oz, 9lb 1oz followed by a whopping 11llb 5oz baby!

My doctor at the time gave me some acupuncture, needle in the wrist,(didnt hurt at all, its the bigger fatter ones you gotta be scared of when they do all them blood tests later in pregnancy!!) a couple of twists and was told to go home to bed, not to drive as it would make me drowsy. Thought it was a load of claptrap, but just wanted to humour the doctor. Next morning, no actual sickness or nausea, it lasted for about 6 weeks, and went back and got it done again, then was fine after that.

Was weird because I hardly ate anything in the early days and son was a healthy 7lb 6oz, when I had my daughter, had no sickness at all, ate very well and she only weighed 6lb 11oz,so there may be some truth in the fact that baby is well if you have morning sickness.

Not sure about the big baby theory. My first was 6lb 7oz and my second was only 4lb 5oz (although she was also 2 months early). I suppose at least I had 2 months less sickness than I might have done!!

I'll add my two penn'oth to the big baby theory :D

    Really bad sickness - 10lb 4 (16 days OD)
    Slightly better sickness - 10lb 5 (13 days OD)
Able to eat to some degree all through - 11lb 7.5 (delivered on date)

Although to be fair, number three son was the original chubby baby due to me also having gestational diabetes - probably something to do with the lemon sorbet craving in the first trimester, lol

    :)

Oh, and if the OP is now panicking about big babies - my three were all natural deliveries, so it's not always a problem.

  • Wow thank you so much for all of your replies, i have lots of reading and experimenting to do! Hopefully i will find something out of all the posts that will work for me. :D

I wonder if that theory is true re big babies, my first was 8lb 3 and I had bad sickness with him he was 2 weeks early as had to have a c section but the Dr's said that if i went over my due date by 2 weeks he would have been a 10 pounder!!! Ouch!!

And im dreading the size this one is gonna be, my dp is 6'4 and im 5'8 (will be our first child) and his mum said my dp and his bro were both over 10lbs!! Sod that!!! I think i will be praying for a c section again this time around too!!

Once again thanks so much for all your replies i really appreciate it :T
