Ginger biscuits? i never want to see one again, seabands? well, i had the joy of throwing up whilst looking at the wretched things as my hands clasped onto the sides of the loo. I had hyperemisis throughout the whole of the pregnancy and up to 4 days after. Sick as a pig, in hospital the lot. Go to the docs and he can give you the anti-sickness pills, not ideal but you have to way up the pro's and con's. They aren't a great solution but if you are going to dehydrate and have to look after your first born then it is impossible.
If anyone wears perfume then they have to clear off. I swore by that swiss boullion stock drink stuff and a bit of marmite on toast.
In the middle of the night after the 15th wee and being awake - crackers were always good along with the fabulous life of paris hilton on tmf at 4am. Little and often, have clear soups whenever you can stomach them.
Remember that it will pass but it is absolutely hideous and noone can truly understand it unless you have been through it. I was off work for the whole pregnancy and i feel for you something chronic, so much so i don't want another! Lie in bed with your head straight and try and rest whenever you can. If i could come round and help you i would, good luck.0 -
oh and also, lillibet, gingham ribbon and jellyhead are marvelously experienced on this subject and gave me great advice and help on this site. They really are smashing women and helped me through it all, more than they know!0

I remember being sick after giving birth and think its never going to stop. Think I was sick a couple of times after but then it did stop.
I would agree with what others have said about pushing the issue if it is bad. I lost over a stone and didn't put weight on for ages. All the midwives and consultants just kept saying it'll stop soon. But my Gp was lovely and the support he gave was fantastic. Without him it would have been a lot harder as no one else listenedGive me the boy until he's seven and i'll give you the man.0 -
I had hyperemesis with both my pregnancies, and ended up being admitted onto the ward that i worked on as a midwife it was that bad.
Keep an open mind and try any of the sugguestions - sometimes people are keen to dismiss things as not wroking, when the the sysmptoms may actually be a lot worse if you don't try them. Personally sea bands, and having a small sip of water before getting out of bed in a morning lessened the sx for me.0 -
Hiya
Sorry to hear you're chucking up like mad! I was flat on my back for a month (I'm currently 28 weeks) and had to have 10 weeks off work it was so bad!
One thing that helped me to keep my strength up though was SlimFast milkshakes believe it or not. As I couldn't eat much they helped me to keep my nutrients up, plus I got plenty of calcium from them.
Also I had a really nasty taste in my mouth for a lot of the time that just made me feel more icky, so started to suck on individual squares of milk chocolate which made me feel a bit better (perfect excuse I know!). Also, mini chedders were quite good!
I think you just have to try a few things and see what works for you. Ginger nut biccys made me loads worse and yet they help other people.
Have fun - hope things improve soon and try to take it easy!0 -
if my nausea's really bad then I can't face food - the thought just makes me retch - so I've been relying on Complan a bit like Lillie with the slim fast it's got lots of nutrients in it and if I mix it with milk I'm getting calcium too. I seem to be able to keep it down better than food and once my bloodsugar's a bit more settled I can then usually eat some toast or something. I'm still losing weight though0

im nealry 10 weeks and feel sick most of the day, and have "been " sick several times too. cant go to the supermarket without holding breath and end up buying random stuff just to escape!
i have just been and bought ginger biccies (know you not keen on ginger, me niether but the bics aint too bad!)
i have been buying biscuits like digestives or rich tea and find they keep it at bay at "hard" times like when driving and get scared in case i throw up!!
when im in lectures, i have a "sucky" sweet stash like polo fruits or something for when i start to feel it...though mum says im giving myself a sugar rush and when i "come down" itll be worse!
drinking water makes me gag, im getting into fizzy pop (arrrr...never touched the stuff b4..)
im eating little and often
smell of food makes me gag, the cookng smell, so we go out for tea or get takeaway (spent a small fortune in the last month)
also, found cereal stays down okay as long as dont go soggy. having small bowl when get up, the piece of toast bit later
feel like im eating loads but none of the good stuff
hang in there...im right with ya!!0 -
Cream crackers worked like magic for me.
Also Malta Guinness - no its not alcoholic and its very good because it contains iron and you are unlikely to need iron supplements later in pregnancy if you take it. Unfortunately Malta Guinness is not widely available - mostly Indian shops. The reason people don't move right down inside the carriage is that there's nothing to hold onto when you're in the middle.0 -
Hi -
Both my pregnacies (1 girl 1 boy) I had hyperemisis all the way through and even threw up immediatly after each delivery - be prepared for that! but both babies were perfectly healthy though!
I lived on marmite on toast and lemonade (with the odd arrowroot biccie thrown in) and also garlic bread. I found if i didn't try to eat anything for a while It got worse, if I at least had something in my tummy it helped to keep it at bay!
the funny thing was about 2 or 3 hours after giving birth i was starving and felt normal again!
Hope you're (all) feel better soon and just remember all the sickness will be well worth it when you have a lovely cuddly bundle to hold! xxxBest Threads -
