  • posted the letter and £10 cheuqe off. im so fed up with halifax. fingers crossed. thins is all a bit confusing but with this site i hope i can get money back. i dread to think how much it adds up to.
  • OK,Here is the story,Made a claim with Halifax going back last October.

First offer was refused but second one was accepted :T ,sent back letter accepting the offer with bank account details to pay me direct.

Chased this up today and was told by Halifax that payment was reimbursed on the 18th of December  ....to a debit firm, they stated this is their policy:naughty: .

As far as I was concerned Halifax had closed the account some 2 years ago, apparently they can open the old account and debit the payment in to it.

Having sent templates from this great website:D ,I sat down and re read the letters and these clearly state the following:

I therefore ask that you repay me,

However as stated in my previous correspondence, this is to be made by cheque payable to xxxxxx or directly in to my bank account.

    repay me the full amount.

I therefore ask that you repay me the full amount.

Now then, all letters clearly stated that payment was to be made to me.

At the moment I've gained £261.00 but have had it transferred to a debt collection agency with out my authorization.

I've faxed a letter to Halifax to ask for the original acceptance paper with the details on along with my telephone number to speed things up.

Has any one else come up against this way of refunding before.

When I phoned the debit company to confirm the payment, they even had the cheek to ask me to pay more.

Any advice or similar scenarios appreciated.
  • Can someone please give me some advice, my bank charges claim against my bank came through with a really good offer, the letter said i need to accept the offer for the funds to go into my bank account, but i dont use that account anymore, for many reasons, can they insist the funds have to go into my account with them.

I don't believe they do, even if they do you can quite easily ask for a new card and pin number for the account, and you'll have access just as quick, just take the funds out when you get it and close the account once and for all afterwards, however as I said at the beginning, you can ask for it to be paid by cheque or to another account as far as I'm aware.
Thanks to all the competition posters.

  • Hi
I've just had a quick look around the boards concerning some write up about this claim process and where the payment goes.

Can any one point me in the right direction or a link please.I was under the impression that payment would be made back to the person claiming.
  • I'm pulling out of a claim after my last one was transferred directly to a debt agency.

I've canceled this and told them to refund the bank.

The second claim would also have gone direct to the agency.

I might be bitting of my nose here, but I was not going through the motions all over again just so the debt agency could have the money.

So in the end it cost me £27.00 with postage (which also got transferred) and several months hoping for a financial gain which will never happen.

I think this site should make this clear to people on these debit agencies lists.

I spoke to one of the agencies and they told me they were being bombarded with complaints about it.

I was ready to take this to court aswell thank god I didn't

So if you are with a debit agency don't expect any money.

If any one higher up on the ranks would like to answer.

    Rant over.
  • Sorry to make things worse but it has been said on numerous occasions on this board that this is the case ie money goes to 'pay off' your debt rather than you getting the money. Same happens if you have 'spending' on credit cards, the banks etc use it to pay your outstanding account.
None of the moderators etc have ever claimed otherwise if you can find threads when others have asked about this. Maybe you should look at it as your debt being reduced sooner rather than you not getting money in your hand so to speak.
  • Hi
    Thanks for replying.

I still think this needs to be made clear,These claims of I had x amount back are not really true if the agency has received the money.

To be quite honest I could have found something better to do with the £27.00 rather than help an agency get their money back quicker, and me suffer all the stress helping them.

I do not mean to have a ago at you by the way over this.

    Thanks.
