Son removes his pyjamas and nappy in bed

Poor lamb, is he maybe scared of the dark? You could try a night light or similar so that he's not waking up in total darkness and getting scared.
How is he with clothes during the day?0 -
This brings back memories of my baby (now at uni) was bright as a button, but lazy in the loo department.
When it got close to his 4th birthday I was getting fed up with the nappies and sort of bribed him out of daytime nappies by hinting that he would get better presents if he tried to use the potty/loo - it worked wonders, had a few accidents as expected but only took about a week or so.
Now he has always slept like a log at night so I wasn't worried about the night time nappies, but some while later I tried sitting him on the pot before I went to bed (not easy with a heavy sleepy lump) and it worked within a few weeks he was dry. weyhey.
I do think boys are more lazy (although no. 1 son was dry earlier).
Bless your little lad, I'm impressed that he can get all that kit off, but maybe could it be that he doesn't like being so strapped in?
I remember loving b eing tucked up in bed with a kiss from mum, but as soon as she left the room I used to climb out of the bed and untuck the blankets.
Best of luck with your new boy, take it day by day, and hardest of all try not to let him know how stressed you are.

[Would you leave your car engine running overnight, to avoid using the extra petrol to warm up the engine again in the morning?]
You dont live in your car overnight do you? and bricks and mortar once cold take time to warm up - your car doesnt!0 -
Sorry have skipped the thread, and apologies if already mentioned, but I used to put my dd's all in one vest fastened OVER her jammie bottoms when she went through this stage.
I would give him a gold star on a chart in the morning if he keeps everything on.1,2 & 5p: Christmas day food £9.31
10 & 20p: misc savings £2.70
50p: Christmas presents £3.50

I have a friend with a 3 year old son and he doesn't get the potty yet either (and it's not for lack of trying!) He has no additional needs, so they are all just different. Boys seem to take longer than girls too.
As well as this, I have another friend with a 4 year old son (again no extra needs), he's been potty trained in the day since 2, but he is still in pull up pants at night, even though he's in Reception now. Just to put your mind a bit at rest.
I agree - my son (now 6) wasn't night potty trained until he was 4, and then it happened immediately. Nothing to worry about....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
A length of parcel tape round the top of the nappy stops them undoing it

Not sure how that would work with the development problem, but it might be worth a try. Here I go again on my own....0 -
well went in about 9pm and nappy was off all clothes chucked on floor and luckily dried poo scattered all over the room, hubbie went back in this morning early and clothes and nappy all off again (luckily no wees or poos) since took off. So only 1 lot of bedding to wash today !!!!!

How about sleepsuits with poppers (You will have to cut feet off) Put on backwards, same theory for the fleece all in ones cut feet off and zip up back to front. Primark do the fleece ones for £6 ish this may make him a little warmer too.
I wish you all the best with the adoption process and congratulations x xDFW Nerd #awaiting number - Proud to be dealing with my debts!

My son used to decorate with his poo drove me nutty. He was out of his cot early as he broke his arm climbing out when his arm was twisted in bars on way down. He used to take his nappy off if he was awake and left for more than a minute. Amazing how much poo they can spread in 5 minutes. I really understand your pain its so frustrating and i had my first gallbladder attack after a really bad decorating attempt.
When i did start potty training through the night i used to take him still asleep to the loo and just sit him on and he would go. Used to take him as i was about to go to bed this did help. Waterproof under the sheets are brilliant. I used to keep a spare sheet in the room so it was quick to change with minimum disruption if he was laying right he didn't even have to be moved off the bed.
My sister was told if her autistic son wasn't out of nappies by 5 he never would be RUBBISH he was but it was at 7. Some kids never hit the milestone so don't' worry he will in his own time.
Have you tried putting the nappy on back to front? So the tabs are not as easy to reach?0 -
Whether you live in it or not, the laws of physics apply to bricks and mortar, just the same as to aluminium and steel. I assure you that a car does not warm up instantly, an engine is probably 200kg of metal. You dont live in your car overnight do you? and bricks and mortar once cold take time to warm up - your car doesnt!
