I was thinking about getting a Mac Mini to sit under the telly but this could be a better option, certainly a better PC.This signature is not mine!0

Two page spread in todays Aldi in-store leaflet. It would take me days to transcribe it all, but one or two salient points:
Vista home premium
250gb h/drive
1024DDR2 SDRAM
2-in-1 TV tuner, DVB-T and analogue
Bit coy about the graphics though, seems to be 128 only, but fiddled somehow to 384????
Pentium D915, 2.8
DVD burner and 8-channel HD audio
Various bits of software, including, unfortunatel, AOL and Symantec system recovery pre-installed. Anyone else ever tried to get rid of AOL?
Includes remote control for tv, videos, etc
But, it's still £399.99, I'm afraid, so as much as I would like one, I'd never get it through the front door and upstairs without being spotted...!!!0 -
Oh yes, and an 8 in 1 card reader, and a gadget for connecting an external hard drive. (Medion, of course)0

Any mention of what type of motherboard?0

Any mention of what type of motherboard?
All the Aldi Medios have used an MSI board, its not overclocking friendy, the BIOS is a farce, the real BIOS settings being hidden behind a password, this became known on some of the earlier machines, but the later ones have not really produced any joy.
They are good machines for general use, and I swear by them but would not class them as "Enthusiast Machines".
And to be honest if the price is the £399.99 its not the deal it first looked, there are lots of other similar packages at that sort of price,
I for one will keep my money in my pocket and run on my 3 year old 3 Ghz Aldi for a little while longer.Over 100k miles of Electric Motoring and rising,0 -
for 399.99 you can build your own on Dell , dual core , windows premium , AND a 19" monitor... ordered one for my little bros easter present last week , the day Vista was released.James thinks worrying is like a rocking chair, it gives you something to do, but it doesn't get you anywhere
If i help you...Please thank me! :beer:0 -

I'm seriously considering buying this pc...
My current one is patheticly slow and is really starting to annoy me, so this might be the one for me
It will mainly be used for internet browsing and watching videos/tv/music but I wanna be able to use it for gaming as well and this looks like it can handle most games I would wanna play on it, because i'm not a very hardcore gamer.
Not sure if any other similar deals are available so if anyone knows of any...??0 -
