The last 7 weather warnings they put out failed to materialise .
so pinches of salt, it is normally windy in winter in the North of England, hence why they are not many trees.

one day they've got to get it right, surely:D
The wind's been howling on and off for a couple of weeks now, and I never normally take a lot of notice of warnings, but I have dug out some candles this time JIC!:) We had a few tiles down one day in May so I wouldn't be surprised if it did turn out a bit worse than that....but I hope not! Kids are happy with a half day anyway!:D

eta Police have apparently taken the "unprecedented" step of advising schools in WC Scotland to close, so better sasfe than sorry!

Nothing from our school to say they are closed or closing earliy. Some folk in our area but not the same school posted on FB 5 hours ago that their school was closing.

Guess i will need to wait till the morning to know.

Thing is when I put my glasgow postcode in the metoffice website the most winds it shows for tomorrow is 35mph.

I'm E Dunbartonshire so the advise then is to be shut all day. Kids will be delighted in the morning.

Must put them to work cleaning the house then bet they wont be happy at that :rotfl:

    LOL that's an idea....hmm....:D

I'm East Renfrewshire, who are still saying 1pm, but I've heard some councils saying schools will be open in the morning but parents can choose whether or not to send their children. Grrr, why can't they just make a firm decision and stick to it??

Think I might just keep DS off anyway, easier for everyone! Worried about DD2 who is supposed to be finishing college at 4pm right in the worst of it, I really hope they let them go early :( She won't stay off 'cos she needs 100% attendance to get her EMA:(

I heard between 3pm and 6pm it was to be really bad, surley they would allow your DD to leave a bit earlier given the warnings and still keep her 100% attendance.

Well suppose there is nothing we can do but batten down the hatches and see whats what tomorrow.

I've a feeling they may well shut early, which she'll be delighted about has she has a Philosophy NAB in the afternoon:D But yeah, I guess we'll just have to wait and see, and sue the college if she gets clonked on the head by a falling branch :/
  • Strangely enough, I was watching a Japanese TV channel that does world weather forecasts (I have strange sleeping and stranger tv viewing habits) and she said there would be either hurricanes or hurricane force winds, at least, over here.

I wonder why the Beeb/MetOffice don't use the word?

It's cold down here, and a bit blustery, but nothing more than making an awful mess of the market displays and knocking over shop board things out on the pavements.
I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.
