Can I ask, is this 'normal' for central Scotland or is this particularly extreme this time?

    Particularly extreme!

It's not often you get Scots complaining about wind - it's usually normal for us!

Not at all normal. This is some serious and damaging weather. Even the Western Isles, who normally cope just fine with bad winds, are closing schools etc.

A pretty nasty few hours ahead for you up there :(
  • Im near Wishaw(Ml2 area)...it is wild here, our newly fixed 6ft fence and gate is down already,1 smashed very large, heavy ceramic plant pot outside, wind almost blew me off my feet,,had to fight to get my back door open because of the wind,it is so noisy it is scary...OH phoned from work in Glasgow(Blochairn area)said it doesnt sound so bad there....yet.
my house is situated just up from the Clyde Valley, the wind seems to circulate around us like a whirlwind...I might end up "Doing a Dorothy"...im half way there, ive already got a cairn terrier(snuggled in his bed and not named Toto..lol)

I live in the Clyde Valley Cooking Mamma, Im dreading going home as the roads are all lined with trees. I remember last years snow and I had to leave my car & walk. Really horrible. Just glad all the cats are in.

Still no worse here (S Glasgow) than it's been at other times recently, looks like it's calmed down a little really.
  • Bit calmer here now and much quieter.
  • Also calmed down here - patches of blue sky! It's coming and going though - blowing a hoolie one minute, peaceful the next.
