take a look at roadwars, old fella and dorris joins motorway going up a slip road the wrong way then carry's on travelling in lane 3 smashing into a white van causing it to topple over.
take a look on youtube of a old fella trying to reverse down a country lane with roadworks on the exit after the taper it was temperarily blocked by a tipper, a guy with mobile films him for over 10 mins to reverse 30 yeards then do a menouver of somekind in the road to turn around.
old fella who lives near my mum owned an old morris, he caused a 15 mile tail back on a single carriageway doing just 15MPH ive not seen him do more than 5 mph in a residential area.
my mums neighbour, i'm sure he thinks his car is automatic because he puts it in first and thats the only gear he uses apprt from reverse sat at junctions he waits at least 5 mins to pull out and quite often its when a car bike or lorry is coming, sometimes my heart goes in my mouth waiting for him to pull out as ive seen some near misses he's had and he's totally oblivious to the horn being pelted at him when he moves out infront of someone.
i had a old chap about 80 giving me a earfull about giving way at a roundabout, i wouldnt of minded if i was in the wrong, but i wasnt right hand lane to turn RIGHT im looking for the 4th exit, he's looking for the same except he was in the left hand lane for straight on event the road markings on the floor tell you what lane you need to be in but he was ademant i was in the wrong when he followed me to the local supermarket carpark and gave me an earfull, after getting past exit three i knew he was heading where and him in my blind spot almost i beeped at him aswell as the car that should have been behind me allway round he had to squeeze inbetween both of us getting almost on my bumper, and cutting up the car at the rear.
my neighbour has crashed his car three ties in the last 12months. one i repaired for him the others he can deal with, all bollard damage!.
arrows on the floor the indicate merge in tern mean nothing to old drivers, to stop anyone going past in either lane drive up the middle at 20mph, then reduce to 15 MPH, a prime example is in pontypridd to hopkinstown road, 30MPH 2 sets of lights last set then merge in turn not old folks use middle of road reduce speed then reduce speed in th 30 evenfurther move side to side to prevent an over take then cause a tail back through hopkinstown to porth.
old lady parked her car in her living room in swansea after accidentally selecting R instead of D.
many many cases where emergency services has been called by elderly drivers for getting lost on motorways and dual carriageways and day trips out being miles from home and no fuel left to make it off the motorway.
my dad is a safe driver but he cant grasp coryton roundabout in cardiff, we went round that many times missing our a470 northbound turnoff a guy and AA guy at the side of the road started laughing, so my mum started waving at them as we went by them again and again and again, untill dad plucked up the courage to take a exit (i'm sure he was counting eeny meeeny miny mo).
do i have respect for the elderly, yes i do, many have been and done things either for country or folk, do i respect their driving? nope not at all.0 -
And for everyone of those there are 5 young drivers, probably male who kill themselves, their mates, someones mother or daughter.
Am I anti young driver no, but I know a bad driver is a bad driver regardless of age or experience.
You can't simplify matters that easily. ie young old good bad.
Quite why a licence is issued at 18 and runs to 70 without check escapes me, I can't think of any other situation where that level of trust or expectaction is left to the individual.I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0
