But you never answered the question.

What would you call bidders that intentionally and, more importantly, GENUINELY bid hundreds of pounds on an auction by a truly honest seller, that has an absolutely truthful description, where it is 100% clear, no scam, no concealment, no misunderstanding of what is actualy up for sale, but nonetheless is actually and obviously worth a few pence ?

So it's you or you know the seller?

If not... or in that case, the 'bidders' are being misled. Read the auction and say again that they aren't......

    Think 'newbie'!

I'm not sure if I should be getting involved in what seems like a personal arguement between Quoia and Sofa sogood but I have to point some thing out. It clearly states you are bidding for "sale particulars". Bidders aren't being misled. Its there in black and white.
As well as bidding for a copy of the sale particulars to be sent to you you can also download the details from the following site for free (be sure to copy the entire link):

Please note: You are bidding for a copy of the sale particulars only

(these are also available free from the auctioneers)

    How can this be misleading?????

Huh? It's not a me vs them thing is it? I don't like they're style but now you don't seem to like mine? :D I have to laugh.

I'll tell you what - I'll stick to buying from 'good sellers', and the rest can have a 'gamble'

But thanks for the input :)

    But you did

Get the place cleaned up and make it good for buyers. I get better rates from Harrods (price wise and customer wise) so why not make it 'user friendly'?

Sofa sogood, you are missing the whole point of the post.

The seller made it clear what he was selling, he even told them how to get his item free!!! He hasn't done anything wrong really, just advertised the auction of his land. If somebody can't read the description properly then bids and gets stung, surely it's their fault for not reading it right?

I'm not having a go at you. But if you want to reiterate the good points of buying from eBay - feel free. I'm open to all ideas.

And I know I'm not the only one that used to avoid it because of some plank.

Please - enlighten me again. I feel like I don't want to spend another penny on there right now. Which is bad. Or Not?

So it's you or you know the seller?

No it's not me and I have no idea who the seller is.

Most of my "what would you call them" enquiry is hypothetical.
Whilst this particular auction is a reasonable fit to the very similar circumstances I describe, I've seen dozens, maybe hundreds, of auctions that are all but "identical" in scenario with obvious & truthful descriptions of "next to nothing" for sale but where bidders (frequently NOT newbies) cannot read plain English (or at least understand it) and bid totally unrelated amounts of money. PLONKER seems a rather polite term for them in the reality of the circumstances. (I not talking about any bidders being deliberately misled and caught by a scammer)

There are so many a****oles out there who've jumped on the ebay band wagon and are just out to rip people off, it's really hard to know whos ok or not.
I've been buying and selling for a few years now and haven't had any problems yet, but maybe i've just been lucky. Everybody just needs to read the descriptions really carefully and check the feedback throughout the listing. There are some good, honest sellers out there but it's like looking for a needle in a haystack trying to find them!
