    No worries!

My original point, as quoia got, is that I can't believe people are bidding so much on this! Obviously it pays to read descriptions VERY carefully, though as he says about three times in the ad that you can also get the info for free, I don't think they can complain if what they get isn't quite what they were expecting!

Can't believe people can throw their money away like this! Be interesting to see how much it goes for. I do agree though, it's hardly in the spirit of ebay.

    Cheers for that.

In this particular description I don't think you have to be VERY careful when reading it, looking for something "hidden" that makes it into something that is "not what it seems". BLOODY OBVIOUS I'd have thought!

(Must be VERY careful NOT to EMPHASIZE TOO much on MSE though)
(Perhaps that should be mse ?)

    Anyway.
Presuming that this seller is honest, I'd suggest they won't actually expect payment from anyone, and indeed won't even send an invoice out.
They may even cancel all the bids on it before it ends or the entire auction before the last "12 hour" period commences (after which you can't of course)

Re "it's not in the spirit of eBay" I somewhat disagree.
There is little more that could be added to the description to make it any clearer. The seller I believe is likely to complete their end of the transaction and send exactly what they are "selling", and without taking any "outrageous" payments. If anyone should be removed from eBay for "misinterpretation" it is the bidders. Talk about PLONKERS !
I cannot see what is wrong about sending out particulars for a forthcoming sale and using eBay to advertise and "sell" the documents. (Paying a small amount for P&P and copying/printing costs equates to them being requested by genuinely interested people)

However having said that, the seller has got it wrong (assuming it's not a scam - can't see how it can be with THAT description) in the type of auction that they have chosen to use.
They should have used either a Dutch auction with a realistic start price and a huge quantity for sale, or a multiple Buy-It-Now auction with a BIN value of £1 or less and again a huge quantity for sale. Both should have the actual P&P cost if real documents to be sent "snail mail"

This way they cover their eBay listing and final value fees, the cost of producing and sending anything on paper, AND MORE IMPORTANTLY (sorry!) not got themselves into a situation where huge bids have come in for nothing more than some "information" and the problems arising from sorting it out !

Quoia, I have typed many an answer to your response and have deleted it as I have decided not to lower myself to your level by slinging back sarcastic patronising pathetic comments...

This is a light hearted forum and your tone and comments have offended me, you dont read peoples answers and you are only concerned in what YOU have to say...

Think I'm gonna go to bed now cos you've peed me right off....

I really enjoyed this forum until now......... :[

    Does this make any difference:

    http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/community/png-estate.html#rules.

I'm not really sure that I understand it.:o

Basically this says that if you are selling a house/flat/bungalow/piece of land for £10,000 or £50,000 or £1 million or whatever through eBay, YOU as the SELLER, CANNOT FORCE ME, the "winning" BIDDER to actually part with the cash and actually BUY the property or land.

Accordingly I, the bidder, cannot force you, the seller, to actually sell the property or land, to me.

The eBay "AUCTION" is only ADVERTISING that the property or land is up for sale.

Bidding and "WINNING" on a real estate auction is POINTLESS.
The SELLER HAS NOT SOLD IT !
The BUYER HAS NOT BOUGHT IT !

Interestingly since this is a non binding contract, I presume a seller cannot file a NPB (non paying bidder) report or leave negative feedback in the situation where the bidder does in fact not buy the property that is up for sale.

I both sell and buy on eBay.
Will shortly be celebrating my 5th anniversay as an eBayer.
    Also have 100% positive feedback.

    re: "PLONKERS"
What would you call bidders that intentionally and, more importantly, GENUINELY bid hundreds of pounds on an auction by a truly honest seller, that has an absolutely truthful description, where it is 100% clear, no scam, no concealment, no misunderstanding of what is actualy up for sale, but nonetheless is actually and obviously worth a few pence ?
You can't blame a genuine seller.
These people need PROTECTING from THEMSELVES !

The "If anyone should be removed from eBay for "misinterpretation" it is the bidders" obviously does not refer to ALL (or even most) eBay bidders, but specifically to those bidding huge sums on this particular auction we've been discussing.

    Well done!

As for the term "plonkers" - I didn't use it - you did.

But hopefully our paths won't cross on eBay

    Have a nice day
