Christmas costs family with two children 'at least £182'

The lowest price for an acceptable Christmas for a low-income family with two children is £182, a study says.

Research for the charity Family Action says the poorest families will spend two-thirds less on the festivities than the average family.

Most UK families will spend between £530 and £682 on gifts, decorations, food and drink, it adds.

But most of the poorer families quizzed for the study said they would spend less than £200.

Hell, my tree cost me £350 .... what will you spend this Xmas?

  • here's a thought for you

go to a mirror, look at yourself and ask yourself why you feel the need to do post things like this

you're a very sad little man....i suspect you are also very lonely

instead of wasting your time on here...why not use your time to help people less fortunate than yourself

I'll be one of those spending less than £200 on Yule. If you've got the money you can spend it, if you haven't then you can't. It doesn't mean it's going to be a worst festive time than someone who's spent a fortune on everything. The holidays should be about more than what it costs. I'm still looking forward to having a great time with my family.

    Define acceptable?

Or do you mean 'acceptable' in the consumer driven society sense ?

  • So when can we stop spending and enjoying the family. A "Jamie Oliver" dinner at £10 per head should do...

I will be dusting down my 'Asda twig' (bamboo with lights on). Cost:0
Total Christmas cost: Way less than £100.
The sad thing is there will be people spending money they don't have. I mean that's what Christmas is about yes? Spend spend spend...

Well, if you are going to spend your life paying RENT and someone else's MORTGAGE, you're not going to have much to spare!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm sorry where do you get the impression I rent from? Oh and we no longer have a mortgage either, if I told you what this house cost when it was brought I'm sure you'd weep you sad little man. I don't play the house bull / bear game, my house is my home and it's one I'm very happy in. A pity money is the only thing you can think of in life, it must make it all seem very shallow.
