Spendswise today, other than my coffee this morning, I have spent nothing (apart from bread and milk but they come out of the grocery budget).....so all good there.

Using your fabulous reasoning - prebought some bits for packed lunches out of the grocery budget yesterday - so a NSD here too!

My justification is that a pre-planned packed lunch costs about £2, packed breakfast about £1 and low GI snacks less than £1. Of course all this includes coffee (even the fancy ones are cheaper tha the local shop) - so for less than £4 the workday is taken care of. A wrap alone runs about £4 from the local coffee shop.

It's amazing how writing out the financial reasoning makes the pre-planning so much easier!

At the end of the day, we cannot avoid spending money, and of course even a "take your lunch in" lunch can cost rather more than we might think, so we have to keep an eye on it.....but that is the key, being aware of what we are spending, and knowing whether or not it is actually cost effective or not. If I can get my lunches predominantly out of my grocery budget, then it means that my daily "spends" are not being used and can be re-directed elsewhere.

I avoided the coffee shop this morning, and have had sandwiches brought in from home (cheese and coleslaw left over from Christmas) so that has been a success so far. Unfortunately, I am still hungry, so am trying to tell myself that a cup a soup or a bowl of weetabix from my office storecupboard later this afternoon will be a far better option than nipping over the road to the newsagent or to the bakery!!

I have brought the car in, because I am doing a couple of classes at the gym after work, so will be paying £5.50 car parking, but I have allowed for this as part of my budgeting twice a week, so it doesn't come out of my daily spends money.

Almost 3 weeks still til payday.......it is a long month already :rotfl:

Stay away from the bakery.. :D Feeling the same today, had couscous from home and lots of fruit but have the distinct feeling I'll be hungry again soon. Although we have got a full biscuit tin in the office am trying to be healthier too so.. carrot and coriander cup a soup it is!

If you have a shop near you, you could buy a sack of spuds, a tub of butter, and have baked potatoes for the rest of the month... ;)

Sorry Z, but I don't - well, not within "nipping out" distance. And I don't have a microwave here.....and if I did, it wouldn't give me the crispy skin of the potato that I like - I can't stand microwave soggy skins!!!

    Cookie wins the day, today!!

After experiencing my first spinning class last night (finally!) immediately followed by a pilates class, I am somewhat feeling that my muscles have worked hard!! I think as the day goes on, I will feel it more and more of course, so my membership to the Ministry of Silly Walks will be renewed :o

Thoroughly enjoyed it though, and want to do it again, although the spinning classes book up really quickly and already I cannot get on a class for next week. Hopefully some of the "new years resolution" people will drift away over the coming weeks and I can grab a class or two!

Moneywise, bought supplies in Tesco on the way in to work today to help with the cost of coffee and lunches at work. Kenco big refill bags are only £2 each at the moment so well worth stocking up on if you like that sort of coffee.

I hope you all have a good day x
