Neighbour finds our christmas lights "annoying"...

Please ignore that nasty post OP. For what it is worth, I personally benefit from someone like yourself posting on here: learing what it can be like to have a kid with aspbergers for example.
I learn a lot about different lifestyles, life choices and life experinces from the wide range of peolpe who post on these boards. Makes me more understanding of people in RL as it gives me greater insight.I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0 -
Take no notice Bump, my granddaughter has aspergers, and although she is low on the spectrum (I think that's right?) my daughter says she is still hard going (she's 16 now) You take time off and relax whenever you can (although "relaxing" and "forum" do not compute
) and sod what anyone says!!;)

Good on you, Bump! At least she knows that you have considered what she's said and made some adjustments - and you can't get any fairer or neighbourly than that.
I was wondering whether her objections were on environmental grounds. I've been passing a house belonging to a famous Premier League footballer all last week and watching contractors setting up the lights along his drive way, house, garden and golf course. No doubt a designer styled it and thought up the theme but it looks like a cross between Blackpool Illuminations and the runway at Manchester Airport today - and it makes me wonder why I try to save energy at all. His lights could keep a small county going, I'm sure.0 -
I still think your dog looks like Hooch WW
He's a canny dog though.

The shows ones out of the US are, yes. Their show breeders over there want them as heavy and wrinkly as possible...but then the Americans do all sorts of stupid things to dogs, for instance they chop the ears up on Dobermans and Great Danes because they like them standing up and pointed. With Neapolitans they cut the ears off all together!
Breeding to maximise non-functional traits that harm health should be banned IMO.“Don't do it! Stay away from your potential. You'll mess it up, it's potential, leave it. Anyway, it's like your bank balance - you always have a lot less than you think.”

I simply said they were rare in relation to doubting that douglas has seen lots of them. Most people I encounter when walking mine have never seen a Neapolitan.
What you're talking about are 'show types' which are over-blown and over-bred, but that applies to ALL breeds. My Neapolitan is below - can you honestly tell me you find that an upsetting sight? As with all breeds, what you see in the show ring is far removed from sensible breeders who breed for function, not 'type'
I'm not a snob about dogs. There are certain dogs I would never have myself, but for practical reason rather than how popular they are (e.g. I don't like toy breeds and I'd never have a long haired dog)
Fair enough, your dog is a lot different than the ones I've seen who are more like this, sadly:
I've never understood the appeal of getting a breed just because its rare, or the people who say 'Oh, I had Shar peis/bulldogs/DDBs/pugs for years, long before they were so common.' but you do hear it a lot.
Edit: Its not just the American breeders creating over wrinkled practically blind dogs sadly, some in the UK are too.0 -
